Agnes B. Hoistad, 94, Devils Lake, formerly of rural Churchs Ferry and Starkweather, North Dakota, died Tuesday, February 1, 2005 at the Good Samaritan Center, Devils Lake.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, February 5, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at the Gilbertson Funeral Home Chapel, Devils Lake. Rev. Harold Ovre will officiate and burial will be in the spring at the Chain Lakes Lutheran Cemetery, Rural Garske, North Dakota.
Friends may call at the Gilbertson Funeral Home Friday from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation on Saturday will be from 9:00 a.m. until time of service.
Music will be cared for by Dennis Lysne and Irving Thompson, Vocalists and Lynda Pearson, Organist.
Pallbearers for Agnes will be: Albert Hoistad, Jr., Dean Hoistad, Garland Hoistad, Russel Erickstad, Tyler Hoistad, Derby Emerson, David Pederson, Curtis Thorp and Mikal Erickstad.
Agnes Bergithe Pederson was born June 6, 1910 in DeGroat Township, Ramsey County, ND the daughter of Paul and Marie (Anderson) Pederson. She was reared and educated there. She was baptized in the Chain Lakes Lutheran Church and confirmed in the Bergen Lutheran Church. Agnes was united in marriage to Joseph “Joe” R. Hoistad, October 23, 1934 in Chain Lakes Lutheran Church. They established their home in Pasadena, California where Mr. Hoistad was employed with the Coca Cola Bottling Co. In the spring of 1943 they returned to North Dakota where they started to farm in DeGroat Twp., rural Starkweather. They farmed there through the years. Mr. Hoistad died June 13, 1991. In 1960 Joe and Agnes were awarded the Soil Conservation award for their farm.
They were life time members of Chain Lakes Lutheran Church, where they helped organize and teach Sunday School. Agnes was a member of the Order of Eastern Star.
She has been a resident of the Good Samaritan Center now for the past 31/2 years.
