John James Langstaff

John J. Langstaff, 93, of Devils Lake, ND died on Thursday morning January 20, 2005 at Heartland Care Center, Devils Lake. Funeral Services for John will be on Saturday, January 22, 2005 at 5:00 p.m. at Gilbertson Funeral Home Chapel, Devils Lake. Fr. Paul Ruge will officiate and burial will be in the Warwick Cemetery, Warwick, ND in the spring. Friends may call at the Gilbertson Funeral Home Chapel, Devils Lake on Friday from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until time of service. Serving as Pallbearers will be: Andy DeMarce, Steven Langstaff, George Langstaff, Melvin Langstaff, Joshua Langstaff, Eric Rogness, David Rogness and Johnny Rogness. Music will be cared for by Tony and Vina McDonald. John James Langstaff was born on January 14, 1912 at Heidelberg, Minnesota the son of George and Elizabeth (Hinderscheit) Langstaff. His family moved to North Dakota in 1912. John attended school in Warwick and Tokio. He entered the United States Army in September of 1943 and served in the United States. He returned to the Tokio area where he farmed, worked construction, worked for several area farmers and he also worked with the Civilian Conservation Corp. John was united in marriage to Ellen Brininger on February 17, 1947 at Devils Lake. Ellen died on December 27, 1962. John retired in the mid 1970’s and continued to make his home in the Tokio area, living with a niece in the winter months in St. Michael. In December of 2001 John moved to the Heartland Care Center where he lived at the time of his death. John is survived by his Daughter, Ann Langstaff Several Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren Brother: Patrick Langstaff, Tokio, ND Many Nieces and Nephews He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ellen and brother, George. Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake, is in charge of arrangements.
