Delbert Lee Thompson, 48 of Denver, Colorado formerly of the Spirit Lake Nation, died on Sunday, July 6, 2008 at the Autumn Heights Health Care Center in Denver.
A Wake will be held at the Fort Totten Recreation Center on Tuesday, (today) July 15, 2008 beginning at 5:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 8:00 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial for Delbert will be held on Wednesday, July 16, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at Seven Dolors Catholic Church, Fort Totten. Fr. Charles Leute O.P. will celebrate the Mass and burial will be in St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery.
The Procession to the Fort Totten Recreation Center will leave the Wal-Mart Parking lot at 4:00 p.m. today.
Serving as Casket Bearers for Delbert will be Denny Thompson, James Harper, Frank Redroad, Phillip McKay and Aaron Nash
Delbert Lee was born on August 17, 1959 at Denton, Texas the son of Leland Lester and Barbara Jean (King) Thompson. He lived and attended school at Fort Totten for a time then moved with his family to Colorado and lived there most of his life. He attended Emerson Elementary School and Moorey High School.
Delbert was a very gifted, talented and creative artist. He took that gift and made it his life long career. Delbert was gifted in many areas of artistry, but particularly painting and sculpture.
Delbert’s smile was infectious, he loved to joke and tease and he was a person who brought joy and happiness to everyone he met. Delbert loved the people of the Spirit Lake Nation. His special love was for his dear family and friends and we shall hold him in our hearts forever.
Delbert is survived by his daughter, Kimberly Tom, Denver, Colorado
Grandson, Adrian
Brothers: James Harper, Denny Thompson, Damian Thompson and Darren Thompson all of Denver
Sister: Bobbi Jo Thompson also of Denver
Many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and their families also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
