Harvey R. Harrison, 68 of Devils Lake formerly of Jamestown and Carrington, ND passed away on Saturday, May 24, 2008 at Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, ND. A Prayer Service and Time of Remembrance for Harvey will be held on Tuesday, May 27, 2008 at 7:00 p.m at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake. The Funeral Service for Harvey will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Jamestown, ND on Wednesday, May 28, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. Rev. Dennis Ellingsen will officiate and burial will be in the Spiritwood Cemetery. Military Honors will be accorded by the Cecil Tracy Post #760, Jamestown Veterans of Foreign Wars. Visitation on Tuesday will be at the Gilbertson Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Visitation on Wednesday will be at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Jamestown one hour prior to the funeral service. It was Harvey’s wish, that everyone dress casual for his services. Serving as Casket Bearers for Harvey will be Bill Smith, Cokey Conant, Kevin Walford, Les Wellinghoff, Bill Woods and Larry Spidahl. Music will be provided by Jackie Tews, soloist and Phyllis Denchfield, organist. Harvey was born on January 2, 1940 at Jamestown, ND the son of Harvey and Hazel (Karn) Harrison. He grew up in Barnes County, attended school in Urbana, ND and graduated from Jamestown High School in the class of 1958. Harvey was united in marriage to Marlys Fried on October 30, 1960 in Jamestown where they established their home. On January 4, 1962 Harvey entered the United States Air Force and served his country as an Atlas Missile Mechanic at Cheyenne, Wyoming and Rantoul, Illinois. He was honorably discharged on April 30, 1965 with the rank of Airman 2nd Class. After his discharge, Harvey and Marlys returned to Jamestown for a year then moved to Libby, Montana. In 1970, they again made Jamestown their home until 1972 when they moved to Carrington. In 1993 they made the move to Devils Lake and have continued to make Devils Lake their home. Harvey spent most of his working years as an owner/operator of an Underground Irrigation Business, retiring in 2002. Harvey was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Carrington where he served on the Church Board and was very active in the activities of the church Youth League. He was also a member of the Eagles Lodge and the American Legion. Harvey was an avid hunter and fisherman who truly enjoyed his lake home and sharing hunting and fishing time and stories with his dear family and many friends. Harvey is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Marlys His son, Tony Harrison and his wife, Amy of Sauk Centre, Minnesota His daughters, Loriann Sebastian and her husband, Mike of Salem, Indiana Tammy Longnecker and her husband, Corey of New Rockford, ND Grandchildren: Danielle St. John, Seth Harrison and Jacob Harrison; Joshua and Amanda Sebastian; Kaitlyn and Brooke Longnecker. Sister: Eileen Dallman and her husband, Bob Widmer of Jamestown Father-In-Law: Bert Fried also of Jamestown He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Ricky Lee Harrison; brothers, Edward Harrison and Bruce Harrison and special mother-in-law, Irene Fried. For Harvey, there were no strangers, just friends he hadn’t met. (Ben Idland)
