Albert L. Janzen, 74 of Devils Lake formerly of Langdon, ND died on Friday, February 15, 2008 at his home due to illness.
Funeral Services for Albert will be held on Wednesday, February 20, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Olaf Lutheran Church, Devils Lake. Rev. Harold Ovre will officiate and burial will be in the Devils Lake Cemetery. Military Honors will be accorded by the Neathery-Simensen Post #756, Devils Lake Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Lake Region Honor Guard, Camp Grafton.
Visitation will be held at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. with the family present from.4 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Visitation on Wednesday will be at the church one hour prior to the funeral service.
Serving as Casket Bearers for Al will be David Yali, Daniel Yali, Scott Bachmeier Jr., Nathan Rham, David Rham and Jerry Johnson.
Honorary Bearers will be Kevin Yaki, Scott Bachmeier, Tim Miller and Al’s grandchildren.
Music will be provided by Julie Nelson, soloist and Fay Huffman, organist
Al was born on September 13, 1933, the son of Jacob H. and Susie (Hoffman) Janzen in Cavalier County, rural Munich, ND. He attended school in Langdon. Al served as a medic in the United States Army for 2 years. After being honorably discharged from the Army, Al worked at Powell Motor, Devils Lake as a mechanic. Then Al realized that trucking was his passion, that he was the King of the road. Al put a million miles on one truck without any accidents. Al drove semi for Wendy Bachmeier, Gouldings, J-5 and Dakota Dry Bean. Al really liked the people he worked for. All was loved greatly and will be deeply missed. Al was united in marriage to Barbara Anderson on August 3, 1984 at Devils Lake.
Al enjoyed fishing, watching football and watching his grand kids grow up. Al was a simple loving man.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Edwin Janzen.
