Louis “Junior” F. Bryl, Jr. 65 of Devils Lake, ND formerly of Webster, ND died on Sunday, April 17, 2005 at Mercy Hospital, Devils Lake. Funeral Services for Louis will be held on Thursday, April 21, 2005 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Olaf Lutheran Church, Devils Lake. Rev. Harold Ovre will officiate and burial will be in the Devils Lake Cemetery. Military Honors will be accorded by the Neathery-Simensen Post #756, Devils Lake Veterans of Foreign Wars. Friends may call at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Wednesday, April 20, 2005 from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. with the family present from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Visitation on Thursday will be at the church one hour prior to the funeral service. Serving as Pallbearers will be: Tom Stoe, Casey Bryl, Ryan Bryl, Judd Stauss, Larry Bryl and Keith Eisenzimmer. Music will be provided by Peter A. Hager, Soloist and Lynda Pearson, Organist Louis Francis Bryl was born on August 4, 1939 at Devils Lake, ND the son of Louis M. and Alvina (Setlak) Bryl. He grew up in the rural Garske and Webster areas attending school in Garske. He worked on his grandfather’s farm until he enlisted in the United States Army on May 17, 1962 at Lakota, ND. He was stationed at the Aberdeen Proving Ground in Maryland during the Cuban Missile Crisis and then with the Army National Guard until his honorable discharge on January 4, 1968. On September 15, 1963, Louis married Evonne Stoe. They established their home in rural Devils Lake. In 1966, Junior started Bryl’s Custom Harvesting. This was a business that involved the whole family and for over 40 years, the harvest crew would make their way from Oklahoma to North Dakota every spring, summer and fall. For a time he farmed his father’s and grandfather’s farm in the Webster area and for the past three years has made his home in Devils Lake. Junior was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church, the Devils Lake Elks and Eagles Lodge. A life time of rural farm living, made him an avid collector of farm toys, especially John Deere brand. Junior is survived by Sons: Richard Bryl Kevin Bryl and fiancé, Cherilyn all of Devils Lake Granddaughters: Shelbi Nicole Bryl, Kaitlyn LeAnn Bryl and Amanda Margaret Anderson. Special Friend: Bonnie Hawley Brothers and Sisters-In-Law: Bernard and Carolyn Bryl, Spring, Texas Thomas and Rebecca Bryl, Hillsboro, ND Albert and Judi Bryl, Minneapolis, MN Sisters and Brothers-In-Law: Virginia and Larry Stauss, East Grand Forks, MN Barbara and Terry Koropatnick, Cavalier, ND Richard and Kevin’s Mother: Evonne Bryl, Devils Lake Many Nieces and Nephews also survive He was preceded in death by his parents.
