Elizabeth Kraft, 98 of Devils Lake, ND died on Tuesday evening, April 5, 2005 at Mercy Hospital, Devils Lake. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, April 11, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Fr. C. F. Wilhelm will celebrate the Mass and burial will be in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call at the Gilbertson Funeral Home Chapel, Devils Lake on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary and Scripture Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation on Monday will be at the church one hour prior to the funeral Mass. Active pallbearers will be Elizabeth’s Grandsons, Steve, Randy and Daniel Kraft and Elizabeth’s Great Grandsons, Todd, Michael and Mitchell Kraft. Honorary Pallbearers will be Elizabeth’s Nieces and Nephews: Wendy Reiger, Pius Kraft, Duane Kraft, Marlene (Kraft) Bertsch, Helen (Ziegler) Nelson, Don Schell, Jack Schell, Diane (LaMotte) Schell, Don Schafer, Lambert Schafer, Mary Lou (Shafer) Nelson, Marie Gette, Catherine (Kraft) Engelhart, Lena Frith, Clarence and Jean Lingor and sister-in-law, Eva Kraft. Reading the Scriptures will be: Terry and Sierra Kraft Gift Bearers: Savannah, Amanda, Sadie, Nickalia and Natasha Kraft Altar Server: Nathaniel Kraft Music will be provided by Peter A. Hager, Soloist and JoDee Lagein, Organist. Elizabeth Schafer was born on March 2, 1907 at Fulda, North Dakota the daughter of Joseph and Katherine (Kraft) Schafer. She was educated in Berwick. Elizabeth met Joseph Kraft at a dance, they fell in love and on November 8, 1927, they were united in marriage at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Devils Lake. After their marriage they farmed for a few years then Joe began working for the railroad. They established their home in Devils Lake where they lived and worked and Elizabeth devoted her time to caring for her husband and boys. Joseph died on January 5, 1984. There were worries and struggles but more happy times in their fifty-seven years of marriage. They enjoyed camping trips every summer and occasionally the children and grandchildren would also accompany them. As a family they enjoyed fishing and music with Elizabeth playing the accordion. Elizabeth had several hobbies including crocheting, playing cards and Bingo and taking photos of family and the outdoors and the many other beautiful sights around her. She had a wonderful talent for decorating and painting her home in just the right colors and style. Her favorite sweet was “Jelly Beans” and her family always made sure they were readily available whenever the craving arose. Elizabeth was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Ann’s Altar Society and the VFW Auxiliary. Elizabeth left a legacy of love, Christian faith and values. May Elizabeth rest in peace. Elizabeth is survived by her Sons: Ray Kraft and his wife, Chris of Devils Lake Albert Kraft, Delores, Colorado Grandchildren: Terry (Lesa) Kraft, Steve (Tamy) Kraft, Randy (Traci) Kraft and Dan (Jennifer) Kraft. Great Grandchildren: Savannah, Sierra and Sadie Kraft; Todd and Amanda Kraft; Michael and Mitchell Kraft; Nathaniel, Nickalia and Natasha Kraft. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joseph; grandson, Todd A. Kraft; daughter-in-law, Marian Kraft; sisters, Mary Ziegler, Lena Lingor, Eva Schell and Cecelia Reiger.
