Margaret F. “Maggie” Yager, 83, Devils Lake, died Tuesday, March 29, 2005 at the Good Samaritan Center, Devils Lake. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Devils Lake. Fr. C. F. Wilhelm will celebrate the Mass and burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call at the Gilbertson Funeral Home Friday from noon until 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary and Scripture Service at 5:30 p.m. and Saturday at the church one hour prior to funeral service. Margaret F. Senger was born on December 16, 1921 to Thomas Senger & Theresa (Koble) Senger in rural Devils Lake, ND She was reared there and attended school in Southam, ND. January 27, 1941, she was united in marriage to Peter Yager rural Crary, North Dakota. Their 24 years together were never boring. They made their first home in Devils Lake where they owned & operated a taxi service & also Yager Body Shop. In 1946, they started a custom harvesting business and during the winter months, Pete drove semi- truck for various transport services. In 1960 they moved to rural Crary and began farming and continued operating their custom harvesting business until Pete was suddenly killed in a car accident on November 7, 1965 at the young age of 48. Maggie & her son Joe continued the custom harvesting business for another year after Pete’s death. Maggie returned to Devils Lake where she started working at the Lake Region Lutheran Home where she was employed for 27 years. In 1989 she was named Employee of the Year. During this time, she also worked at the Devils Lake Elks Lodge 1216. After she retired, she began working part-time at the Good Samaritan Center for another 3 years until age 74. Maggie will always be remembered for her wonderful cooking abilities. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, life member of the Devils Lake Elks and the Devils Lake VFW Women’s Auxiliary. She is survived by six children. Janice Miller, Devils Lake – Judy (Larry) Fjellanger, Rugby, ND – Joe (Nan) Yager, Devils Lake – Dennis Yager – Moscow, Idaho, Tom Yager, Dallas, Texas and Joan (Jim) Hagen, Fargo, ND. She is also survived by 19 grandchildren & 16 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by brothers Julius (Betty) Senger, Devils Lake – Thomas (Adeline) Senger, Devils Lake – and Joseph Senger, West Linn, Oregon and sister Evelyn Young of Clackamas, Oregon She was preceded in death by her parents, Tom & Theresa Senger, her husband Pete, daughter, Geraldine Kuehn and two grand sons, Allen Dushinske & Kent Fjellanger, a step grand-daughter Diane Yager, brothers Conrad, Phillip, Wendelin, Anthony, and Conrad (Butch) Senger.
