Lorraine C. Corbett, 87 of Devils Lake, ND died on Monday morning, April 4, 2005 at the Heartland Care Center, Devils Lake. Funeral Services for Lorraine will be held on Thursday, April 7, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. at the Westminster Presbyterian Church, Devils Lake. Pastor Kevin Kaufmann will officiate and burial will be in the Devils Lake Cemetery. Friends may call at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. and on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Lorraine Cameron Rodgers was born on April 9, 1917 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, the daughter of Hill and Mabel (Dryden) Rodgers. She attended school at Sanford, Manitoba and received her teaching certificate while attending school in Winnipeg. She taught for several years in rural Manitoba. She then worked as a secretary at the Winnipeg General Hospital where she met Dr. Conner A. Corbett. Lorraine and Conner were united in marriage on December 12, 1942 in Winnipeg. Dr. Corbett entered the Canadian Army serving for the duration of the World War II. After his discharge, he and Lorraine made their home in Crystal City, Manitoba where Dr. Corbett continued his medical practice. They also lived for a time in Ninette, Manitoba. In 1950, they moved to Devils Lake where they made their home through the years. Lorraine devoted her time to caring for her husband and family. Dr. Corbett died on January 1, 1977. Lorraine was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and was the church organist for many years. She was also a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, the Devils Lake Elks Lodge and Eagles Lodge, the Lake Region Curling Club and the Pleasant Valley Golf Course in Manitoba. Lorraine also belonged to the Lake Region bridge clubs and enjoyed many games of bridge with her dear friends. Lorraine stayed very active with curling and golf for many years and always made time for playing the piano and organ which she so enjoyed. Lorraine is survived by her children: Margaret L. Boostrom, Minot Dr. Thomas C. Corbett and his wife, Jeanne, Devils Lake Douglas G. Corbett and his wife, Georgene, Minot Five Grandchildren: Kristina Schlecht and her husband, Shannon, Portland, Oregon Thomas D. Boostrom, Minot Corinne Corbett, Devils Lake Conner Corbett, Devils Lake Grant Corbett, Minot Sister: Marianne (Lorne) Palmason, Wolfeboro, New Hampshire She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Conner; brother, Grant Rodgers and sister, Margaret Holmgren.
