Florence Rose Longie

Florence R. Longie, 66 of Devils Lake, ND died Friday, June 11, 2010 at her home in the loving care of her family and Mercy Hospice. Funeral Services for Florence will be on Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at Gilbertson Funeral Home Chapel, Devils Lake. Fr. Peter Sharpe will officiate and burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery in Park River. Friends may call at the Gilbertson Funeral Home on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until time of service. Florence Rose Praska was born October 22, 1943 in Park River, ND to James and Agnes (Houser) Praska. She was raised and attended school in Park River. She worked at Borden’s, the State School and Associated Potato Growers all in Grafton. Florence moved to Devils Lake in 1984 and she worked at Leonardo’s in Cando and for REM-ND in Devils Lake. Florence was at one time married to Kenneth Longie. Florence enjoyed having and going to rummage sales, thrift store shopping, sewing and other handiwork. She loved music and doing jigsaw puzzles. Florence is survived by her loving family: her son, Jeff of Devils Lake; a sister, Leona Dahl and her husband Marvin also of Devils Lake; brother, Raymond Praska of Seattle, Washington and a granddaughter, Sarah of Fargo, ND; several cousins, nieces and nephews also survive. Florence was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Rodney; a sister, Barbara Staven and sister-in-law, “Inny” Praska.
