Irene G. Larson was born June 10, 1914, to Fred and Clara (Anderson) Larson at New Rockford, ND. In her early childhood the family moved to the Doyon area. Irene attended school in Crary and graduated from Crary High School in 1932.
At age 18, Irene began her employment at the Odd Fellows Home, Devils Lake, where she worked in all areas of the care and also in the Home’s garden. She also did sewing for the residents but was most noted for her excellent cooking skills and work in the Home’s kitchen. She was truly a very dedicated employee and friend to all the residents and staff and reluctantly retired at age 85. She continued to live in the Odd Fellows Home until October of 2002 and then moved to the Heartland Care Center.
Irene was a lifetime member of the Doyon Lutheran Church.
Irene loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed gardening at the Home and at the family farm. She was so thankful she was able to work for so many years but after retiring she truly enjoyed spending time with her dear family and friends.
Irene is survived by cousins: Raymond Nelson of Doyon
Betty Severtson, also of Doyon
Agnes Munro of West Fargo
Fern Hansegard of Minneapolis, MN
Dale Nelson of Bismarck
