JUNE HELEN BRYN

June H. Bryn, 91 of Devils Lake, ND died on Saturday evening, January 9, 2010 at Heartland Care Center in the loving care of her family and Heartland Staff. Funeral Services for June will be held on Thursday, January 14, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Olaf Lutheran Church, Devils Lake. Rev. Jeff Nicla will officiate and burial will be in the Devils Lake Cemetery. Friends may call at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Wednesday, from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. with the family present from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Visitation on Thursday will be at the church one hour prior to the funeral service. Serving as Casket Bearers for June will be Ryan Thompson, Jake Thompson, Jim Bryn, Eric Bryn, Scott Thompson, Gary Bryn and Harlan Adahl. Music will be provided by Donavon Foughty, soloist and Lynda Pearson, organist. June Helen Benson was born on May 2, 1918 at Orrin, North Dakota, the daughter of William E. and Gunda (Bergeth) Benson Sr. June was united in marriage to Merton T. Bryn on August 14, 1937 at Devils Lake. They established their home in rural Devils Lake where they farmed and raised their family. June was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Her house was always open to neighbors and many times there were extra people at her home for breakfast and dinner. She was well known for her special fried chicken, homemade buns and chocolate chip cookies. In the winter months, June worked at Mercy Hospital as a nurses’ aide. After work, June would go to the laundromat and do the laundry. She was a very hard working lady-never complained about anything-she did what she needed to do. June is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law: Gerald Bryn of Devils Lake, Jim Bryn and his wife, Vicky of Reno, Nevada, Robert Bryn and his wife, Monica Bryn of Billings, Montana; Six Grandchildren: June (Dave) Anderson and Jim (Becky) Bryn both of Billings, Montana, Eric (Carrie) Bryn of Evanston, Illinois, Michelle Hill of Reno, Nevada, Ryan Thompson of Devils Lake and Jake (Sara) Thompson also of Devils Lake. Twelve Great Grandchildren: Rachael, Erika and Amy Anderson; Sidney and Anika Bryn; Maxwell and Harrison Bryn; James and Brynna Hill; Isabelle, Isaac and Jacob Thompson; Son-In-Law: Scott Thompson and his wife, Peggy of Devils Lake Sisters: Sharon Henke and Dorothy Cuthbert both of Devils Lake; Grace (Jerome) Johnson of Fosston, Minnesota and Yvonne (Charles) Woody of Gilbert, Arizona; Brother: Richard (Donnis) Benson of Kalispell, Montana Sister-In-Law: Joyce Benson of Moorhead, MN and Brother-In-Law: Ray (Evie) Bryn of Devils Lake; Many nieces, nephews and their families also survive. June was preceded in death by her husband, Merton on December 14, 1985; daughter, Julie (Scott) Thompson; parents, William and Gunda Benson; sisters, Alice Lorenson, Avis Anderson, Ethel Herda, Shirley Soper and brothers, William Benson Jr. and William Raymond Benson in infancy.
