Charles A. Swenson, 78, Devils Lake formerly of Warwick, ND died on Thursday, May 25, 2006 at Heartland Care Center, Devils Lake.
Funeral Services for Charles will be held on Tuesday, May 30, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. at the former Masonic Temple, Devils Lake. Jim Price and Wilfred Goecke will officiate and burial will be in the Devils Lake Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Monday, May 29, 2006 from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Visitation on Tuesday will be at the Temple one hour prior to the funeral service.
Serving as Casket Bearers for Charlie will be James Schuler, DeLane Hoyt, Gerald Dahm, Scott Bradley, John Dunn and Dean Klein.
Charles Arthur Swenson was born on October 5, 1927 to Carl and Clara Swenson. They lived on the farm in Minco Township, Benson County, rural Warwick. He farmed with his father and uncle until he moved into Warwick in 1947. Charles married Marion Eggleston in 1954. They made their home in Warwick until they moved to Devils Lake in 1983. In 1957, Charlie began working on the Great Northern Railroad, later known as Burlington Northern. After retiring from the railroad, Charlie enjoyed shoveling snow and hauling boxes to the recycling center for Mr. & Mrs. J’s and Old Main Street Café and then enjoyed stopping for coffee breaks.
Charlie will be forever loved and forever in our hearts.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Marion
Sons: Kenneth Swenson and his wife, Maria of Enkoping, Sweden
Karlin Swenson and his wife, Rachel of Lakeville, Minnesota
Daughter: Kerry Swenson of Chicago, Illinois
Grandchildren: Dennis, Lisemarie and Amanda Swenson all of Sweden
Cole Swenson of Lakeville
Brother: Harold Swenson and his wife, Liala of Dickinson, ND
Sisters: Olga Kaeding, Badger, Minnesota
Evelyn Forde and her husband, John of Lakota, ND
Dorothy Lillemon and her husband, Jim of Harvey, ND
Sister-In-Law: Kay Swenson, East Grand Forks, Minnesota
Several Nieces and Nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, John Swenson; sisters, Gladys Erickson, Alice Kromett, Esther Trevileon and Hilma Sahl.
