Celina IronHawk,”Wicanhpi Wakan-Win”, (Holy Star Woman), 85 of St. Michael, ND passed away at her home in the loving care of her daughter and grandchildren on Saturday, April 10, 2010. Mass of Christian Burial for Celina will be held on Thursday, April 15, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, St. Michael, ND. Fr. Brian Moen will celebrate the Mass and burial will be in St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday at Celina’s home in St. Michael, ND beginning at 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. The procession will leave at 1:30 p.m. from Walmart Parking lot to Celina’s home, than leave at 4:00 pm to the Tekakwitha Center, St. Michael for a continued visitation with a Rosary and Prayer Service at 8:00 p.m. Celina was born on May 3, 1924 at Fort Totten, ND the daughter of Andrew and Annie (Greywind) IronHawk. Celina lived her entire life in the Spirit Lake Nation. She devoted her life to her family and was a true example of a loving, caring, kind and gentle mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother. Celina was an excellent seamstress and loved to cook and bake and share all of her creations with her family and friends. Before she was confined to a wheelchair, Celina enjoyed going to Bingo and being with friends and neighbors. The happiest of days for Celina were in spending time with her daughter and grandchildren. The loved shared between Celina and her family will never end and she will be forever in our hearts. Celina is survived by her loving daughter, Esther IronHawk of St. Michael; grandchildren, Merle IronHawk, Cheryl IronHawk, Derek (Renita) IronHawk and Dawn (Pernell) IronHawk,; great grandchildren, Lauren, Challsey, Anthony, Kyle, Vernell, Mary, Merle Jr., Aaron, Tammy, Seth, Terra, Miranda, Tara and Aisha; many great great grandchildren; adopted daughters, Vina McDonald and Yvonne McDonald; special nieces and nephews, Betsy Maza Wasicuna, Bessie IronHawk, Darlys IronHawk, Darcie IronHawk, Sharlene IronHawk, Bernie IronHawk, Jason IronHawk, Roger IronHawk, and Rowdy IronHawk, and their families. Celina was preceded in death by her parents; grandchildren, Dwan IronHawk-Hill, Darnell IronHawk and Willard Left Bear; great grandchildren, Meryl Nicole IronHawk and Shane Melvin Grey Bear-IronHawk; brothers, Benedict and Jonas IronHawk; sister, Bertha DeMarce; nieces, Marge Barbara IronHawk, Theresa IronHawk and Catherine Thompson; nephews, Myron IronHawk, Marvin IronHawk, Duane IronHawk, and Benedict IronHawk Jr.; Serving as Casket Bearers for Celina will be Pernell Cavanaugh, Derek IronHawk, Merle IronHawk, Anthony IronHawk, Jason IronHawk and Eric Demery. Honorary Bearers will be Helena Littleghost, Claudette Ross, Claudette Cottonwood, Peggy Cavanaugh, Elaine Robertson, Dr. Jackie Downs, Lois Leben and Renita GreyBear. A very special heartfelt thank you to the Spirit Lake Ambulance Staff for bringing our dear Celina home.
