Megan Beth LaMotte, 9 of Devils Lake passed from this life on Wednesday morning, February 10, 2010 after a courageous battle against brain stem cancer surrounded by her dear and loving family. Visitation will be held at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Friday, February 12, 2010 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. and then at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Devils Lake from 5:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary and Scripture Service at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial for Megan will be on Saturday, February 13, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Fr. Dale Kinzler and Fr. Peter Sharpe concelebrating the Mass. Megan will be laid to rest in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery, Devils Lake. Serving as Casket Bearers for Megan will be Ardy Salisbury, Tracy Christie, Dawn Bachmeier, Ruth Ann Fletschock, LouAnn Shepherd, Betty Severson, Mary Axdahl, Lynn Burckhard, Cindy Ewert and Erin Lacina. Honorary Bearers are the 4th Grade Class of St. Joseph School and all of Megan’s dear first cousins. Reading Sacred Scriptures will be: Suzanne Walter and Laurie Haugen Gift Bearers will be Todd, Sara, Keely and Dilyn Plemel Altar Servers will be Dilyn Plemel, Breanna Becker and Benjamin Shepherd Music will be provided by Tom Burckhard, Sherry Kurtz, Patty Cote and the 4th Grade Class accompanied by Taylor Ternes. Megan Beth, the loving daughter of Todd and Sheila (Windjue) LaMotte was born on February 13, 2000 in Devils Lake, ND where she would live her entire life of almost 10 years. She attended pre-school at Kiddie Campus and then elementary school at St. Joseph School where she was at present a 4th grade student. Megan was baptized on March 12, 2000 and her godmother is Amy Blake. She was confirmed in December of 2007 and took as her confirmation name, St. Therese the Little Flower. A child who did many little things with extraordinary love- that was our Megan. Megan participated in many activities including the Lake Region Skating Club, Future Firebirds Basketball, Soccer, Just For Kix and was learning to play piano. She was planning to join Girl’s Hockey too. Megan was known for her restaurant called “Maggie Mae’s Café. She decorated, furnished and used her imagination when playing with her Hearthsong Doll House and also had an American Girl Collection. Her imagination and creativity was always expressed in her artwork and Art was one of her favorite classes. In less than ten short years, Megan has taught us how to live, laugh and love; our precious pearl, a rare gem; our strong, brave hero. May God bless Megan and may she rest in His peace. Megan is survived by her parents, Todd and Sheila and her sister, Mara; her grandparents, Thomas and Mary LaMotte and Dennis and Rose Windjue all of Devils Lake; great grandfathers, Leland Windjue and Clarence (Mable) Miller; uncles and aunts and cousins, Dean and Christi Windjue and their children, Jenna, Emily, Taylor, Brandon and Joey and Sara and Andrew Rutten and their children, Elizabeth, John and Tommy; Megan’s best friend Keely and her family Todd, Sara and Dilyn Plemel and special friends, Tony, Lara, Haley and Blake Prozinski and Amy, Craig, Justin, Braydon and Lainy Blake. Many great aunts, great uncles and cousins also survive. Megan was preceded in death by her great grandparents, Cecilia Windjue, Bernyce Miller, Alvin and Gertrude Dahl and Lector and Caroline LaMotte.
