Michael “Abe” Abraham,”Wambdi Kuwa” (Chasing Eagle), 69 of rural St. Michael, ND began his journey to the Spirit World on Sunday, February 26, 2006 at MeritCare Hospital, Fargo, ND.
Funeral Services for Michael will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. at Dakotah Oyate Lutheran Church, rural Tokio, ND. Rev. Lon Cockerill will officiate and burial will be on the Abraham Homestead, rural St. Michael, ND.
A Wake and Prayer Service will be held at the Dakotah Oyate Lutheran Church on Friday, March 3, 2006 beginning at 5:00 p.m. with Pastor Larry Thiele officiating.
The procession to the Dakotah Oyate Lutheran Church will leave from the Abraham Homestead at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
Serving as Casket Bearers for Abe will be his great nephews, Michael Peterson, Dion Peterson, Joe Peterson and Daniel Peterson.
Honorary Pallbearers will be All Spirit Lake Nation Veterans, the Elders and Abe’s Many Friends.
Michael Abraham was born on May 28, 1936 at Fort Totten, ND the son of Jerome and Jennie (Mazakahomni) Abraham. He attended school at the Catholic Mission Boarding School at St. Michael and Fort Totten. He was active in sports and was a very talented baseball player. He was also very active in the rodeo circuit in bull riding and bareback riding. He entered the United State Navy on January 26, 1955. He served his country during the Korean War, stationed in China and aboard the USS Spangler. Abe was honorably discharged on December 9, 1957. He returned to North Dakota where he worked for a time. He enjoyed attending pow-wows and also loved to travel. He traveled all around the US, visiting with family and friends. Abe eventually moved to Minneapolis where he lived and worked for 28 years. He recently moved to Devils Lake due to his health.
Abe had many talents and pastimes. He loved sports and always cheered for the Minnesota Vikings and the Twins. He was very fluent in the Dakotah language as was his family and they shared many evenings of story telling together. He loved doing arts and crafts, including leather work, copper pictures, clocks and ceramics. He always shared his completed projects with his family. Abe was always happy, cheerful and had a great sense of humor. His wonderful, endless smile and laughing eyes will be so very missed by his dear family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers and a sister.
