Karl E. Ahoe, 66 of Devils Lake, ND died on Tuesday, November 3, 2009 at MeritCare Hospital, Fargo, ND. Funeral Services for Karl will be held on Sunday, November 8, 2009 3:00 p.m. at the Gilbertson Funeral Home Chapel, Devils Lake, ND. Rev. Timothy Stout, Pastor St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Devils Lake will officiate. Visitation will be held at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. and on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until time of service. Karl Eugene was born on February 16, 1943 in Seattle, Washington to Clifford and Katherine (Grohs) Ahoe and raised by his mother Katherine Graham and step-father, Don Graham At a young age he moved with his parents to North Dakota, living in Williston for a short time then moving to Devils Lake. Karl attended Sweetwater Elementary School and Central Middle School. Karl was united in marriage to Debby McIwain on December 23, 1972 at White Bear Lake, Minnesota. They lived for a time in Devils Lake then moved to New Rockford. They returned to Devils Lake where they lived, worked and raised their family. Karl worked for Western Products and also did odd jobs for many in the Lake Region area until a back injury forced him to retire. Debby died on May 18, 2002. Karl loved to work on cars and was a proven “mechanic”. He also enjoyed woodworking and “junk collecting” as his family fondly called his hobby. Karl is survived by his children: Shelly (Kevin Zinke) Ahoe of Devils Lake and Jeremy (Amanda) Ahoe of Aberdeen, South Dakota; Grandchildren: Jesse Ahoe, Jackie Rader and Jordan Rader and Allee Ahoe; Sister: Lilliane (Ralph) Davison of Fort Worth, Texas; Many cousins, nieces, nephews and their families also survive. Karl was preceded in death by his mother, Katherine; father, Clifford; step-father, Don Graham; brothers, Ernest Ahoe and Richard Ahoe.
