Helen E. Amble, 84, Devils Lake formerly of Sarles, ND died on Wednesday, May 3, 2006 at St. Andrew’s Health Center, Bottineau, ND.
Funeral Services for Helen will be Saturday, May 6, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Devils Lake with Rev. Jamie Desai officiating. Graveside Services will be at the Sarles Cemetery on Saturday at 4:45 p.m.
Friends may call at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service to be held at 5:00 p.m. Visitation on Saturday will be at the church one hour prior to the funeral service.
Serving as pallbearers for Helen will be Tod Amble, Martin “Marty” Amble, Bryon Amble, Kerry Kilen, John Krueger, Kyle Vorachek and Andy Freeman.
Helen Eileen Carnahan was born February 11, 1922 in Rock Lake, ND. Helen was reared on a farm in the Rock Lake area and graduated from Rock Lake High School in 1940. Helen was united in marriage to Verle C. Amble on December 18, 1941 at Crookston, MN. They established their home on the family farm in Sarles. Together they farmed there until their retirement in 1979. They continued to live at Sarles until moving to Devils Lake in 1991. After their retirement they spent many winters in Arizona and during the summer months enjoyed camping and fishing. Mr. Amble died September 29, 1998. Helen enjoyed crocheting, hardanger, playing cards, gardening, and quilting. She was a member of the Sarles Lutheran Church, where she served on the Lutheran Ladies Aid and taught Sunday school. She was also a member of the Sarles Legion Auxiliary and Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Devils Lake. Helen loved spending time with her family, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband; mother, Louise Carnahan; brothers, Myron, Robert, Cecil, Howard, Harold, Laverne and Elmer Carnahan; sisters, Edna Carnahan and Adeline Swanson.
