Patrick C. Langstaff, 94 of Devils Lake, ND died on Tuesday, December 8, 2009 at Heartland Care Center, Devils Lake in the loving care of his family. Mass of Christian Burial for Patrick will be held on Saturday, December 12, 2009 at 2:00 pm at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, St. Michael, ND. Fr. Charles Leute , OP will celebrate the Mass and burial will be in St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held at St. Michael’s Catholic Church on Friday beginning at 3:30 pm with a Rosary and Prayer Service at 8:00 pm. Serving as Casket Bearers for Patrick will be his grandsons, Melvin, Steven, George, and Josh Langstaff; Eric, David and John Rogness. Patrick, the son of George and Elizabeth (Hinderscheit) Langstaff arrived on October 28th, 1915 at rural Warwick, North Dakota. Patrick was of Irish and German decent. Pat lived his entire 94 years of life on the Spirit Lake Reservation . Pat was the survivor of the Spanish Flu of 1918 and he lived through the Great Depression. He excelled at playing basket ball for Tokio High School and he helped to bring his team to a Class C Tournament victory in 1937. Pat served in the Civilian Conservation Corp and served with the Anti- Aircraft Artillery Division of the United States Army during WW II. He proudly served in the Aleutian Campaign and was Honorably Discharged with the rank of Sergeant. Patrick was united in marriage to Eleanor Jetty on September 2, 1947. They established their home on Spirit Lake Reservation and farmed and ranched there from 1946 until retirement in 1979. Patrick is survived by his son, Ed Langstaff of Sheyenne, ND. Grandchildren: Josh (Val) Langstaff, Melvin (Laura Lacroix) Langstaff, Steven (Amy) Langstaff, George (Tami) Langstaff, Eric (Tara) Rogness, David (Winonna) Rogness, Jonnie Rogness, Eleanor (Conrad) Cavanaugh, Donna Lanstaff ; Step Grandchildren; Page and Curtis Nickelson, Twenty Great Grandchildren and Three Great Great Grandchildren. We all miss you. Brother-In-law: Alfred (Frances) Jetty; Sisters-In-Law: Sister Inez Jetty, Sarah Hoven, Julie (Bill) King, Marian (Lyle)McCulloch, Vivian Borseth and Renita (Dallas) Delorme. Pat was preceded in death by his parents; wife Eleanor on December 28, 1999, daughter and son-in-law, Loretta and Larry Rogness; brothers, John Langstaff and George Langstaff.
