Pearl Margit Grenier Pearl Margit Grenier, 86, of Rolette ND, died on Easter Sunday, April 12, 2009 at the Good Samaritan Center, Devils Lake. Mass of Christian Burial for Margit will be held on Friday, April 17, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Rolette. Fr. Philip Chacko will celebrate the Mass and burial will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Thursday from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary and Scripture Service at 7:00 p.m. A reception will be held in the Sacred Heart Parish Hall after the internment. Serving as Casket Bearers for Margit will be Steven Grenier, Wade Grenier, Marty Grenier, Jim Mongeon, Dennis Olson and Greg Soper. Reading the Sacred Scriptures will be Travis Grenier. Gift Bearers will be Margit’s children, Karen, Roger and Gary. Pearl Margit (Olson) Grenier was born on September 25, 1922, in Edinburg ND, the daughter of Carl and Andrea (Hjelseng) Olson. She attended rural schools and graduated from Edmore High School. She moved to Dunseith ND to attend and work as a nurse aide at the San Haven Sanitarium. On November 26, 1942 she married Theodore Grenier at St. Louis Catholic Church in Dunseith ND. They lived and farmed in the Thorne area where they raised their three children: Karen, S. Roger and Gary. They retired in 1979 and moved into their Rolette home while continuing to spend the winter season at their home in Arizona. Margit was a member of Russell-Shell Valley Homemakers Club, the Friendship Club, the Birthday Club, St. Michael’s Altar Society, the Rolette Country Club 4-H Leaders and Farmers Union. She was the first Eucharistic Minister in Rolette bringing Communion and friendship to shut-ins. She attended classes to become a Hospice volunteer and served in this capacity for over 14 years. She enjoyed entertaining, reading, gardening, and playing cards. Margit is survived by her children: Karen Grenier (Myron Braun) of The Villages FL, S. Roger (Marla) Grenier of Urbana MD, and Gary (Pennie) Grenier of Rolette ND; eight grandchildren: Kim (Gregg) Obermiller of Deephaven MN, David Braun of Minneapolis MN, Christopher Braun of Raleigh NC, Travis (Shelley) Grenier of Charles Town WV, Jeremy Grenier of Point of Rocks MD, Rondi (Jim) Kraft of Rolette ND, Billy Grenier of Bloomington MN and Andrea (Eric) Tronson of Great Falls MT; eleven great-grandchildren: Katie, Samantha and John Obermiller of Deephaven MN, Marissa Brown, Andrew and Ryan Braun of Minneapolis MN, Emma and Kyle Grenier of Charles Town WV, Theodore (TJ) Martin, Benjamin and Alexandra Kraft of Rolette ND, and Hannah Schwitzer, Konrad and Colt Tronson of Great Falls MT; one sister: Alyce Soper of Devils Lake ND; five brothers: Ola (Doris) Olson of Mesa AZ, Erling (Marilyn) Olson of Sun City AZ, Paul (Donna) Nygard of Grafton ND, Leroy (Evelyn) Olson of Devils Lake ND and Carroll (Donna) Olson of Devils Lake ND, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and their families She was preceded in death by her husband Theodore, her parents, one sister: Carolyn Smith, two brothers: Enar Olson and Clifford Olson and one grandchild: Dawn Renee Hawk.
