Leo Eback, 79 of Devils Lake, ND died on Sunday, January 29, 2006 at Mercy Hospital, Devils Lake. Mass of Christian Burial for Leo will be held on Wednesday, February 1, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Devils Lake. Fr. Joseph Christensen will celebrate the Mass and burial will be in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary and Scripture Service on Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m. Visitation on Wednesday will be at the church one hour prior to the funeral Mass. Serving as Casket Bearers will be Leo’s Grandsons: Ray Dolan, Kay Eback, Bruce Eback, Sandie Bergeron, Bradley Eback, Terry Durbin, Melissa Scharfenkamp, Adam Durbin, Kari Despiegeleare and John A. Durbin. Honorary Casket Bearers will be Leo's Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren. Reading the Scriptures will be Sharon Eversvik Gift Bearers will be Leo's Grandchildren Leo Eback was born on May 11, 1926 at home, rural Balta, ND, the son of George and Frances (Wentz) Eback. As a young child he moved with his parents to rural Minnewaukan, ND. Leo was united in marriage to Marie C. Bingham on May 10, 1948 at Minnewaukan. Leo was a strong, hard-working man who moved the family to where ever the jobs were. Due to a job injury, Leo was forced to retire in 1968. In 1965, the family moved to Devils Lake and have lived here since. Leo enjoyed gardening, fishing and working on cars. He spent his later years enjoying his grandchildren and great grandchildren and playing cards. Leo is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Marie Daughters and Sons-In-Law: Angela and John Durbin, Bismarck, ND Dorothy and David Ward, Hankinson, ND Dianne and Jim Classen, Warroad, MN Sons and Daughters-In-Law: James and Janice Eback, Fred and Mary Eback Robert Eback all of Devils Lake David Eback, Warroad, MN Jeff and Kathy Eback, Ham Lake, MN Leo and Kelli Eback, Virginia, MN Twenty-Five Grandchildren and Two Step Grandchildren Thirty-six Great Grandchildren and Four Step Great Grandchildren Brothers: Bernard (Theresa) Eback, Brinsmade, ND Arthur (Katherine) Eback, Puyallup, Washington Sisters: Helen (Ray) Nelson, Tacoma, Washington Lorraine (John) Zettler, Leeds, ND Pauline (Ed) Zettler, Neenah, Wisconsin Brothers-In-Law: John Kraft and Peter Kraft Sisters-In-Law: Katherine Eback and Phyllis Eback, all of Devils Lake Brothers-In-Law and Sisters-In-Law: Delbert and Anna Bingham, Brinsmade, ND Fred and Ann Bingham, Devils Lake Eustean Tollefson Susan Bingham both of Devils Lake Helen Bingham, Tacoma, Washington Emil Kraft of Devils Lake Many Nieces and Nephews also survive Leo was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Steven Durbin; step grandson, Nicholas Classen; brothers, Mike, John, Joe, Tony and George Eback; sisters, Frances Kraft, Delores Bingham and Theresa Kraft; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, George Bingham, Francis Bingham, Rosemary and Philip Leppart, Patsy Ripplinge, Katherine Kraft and Rudolph Tollefson Friends may sign the on-line register book at www.gilbertsonfunerahome.com
