Virginia B. Reardon, 94 of Nacogdoches, Texas formerly of Devils Lake, ND died on Thursday, January 12, 2006 at Nacogdoches.
Mass of Christian Burial for Virginia will be held on Tuesday, January 17, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Devils Lake. Fr. C.F.Wilhelm will celebrate the Mass and burial will be in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Gilbertson Funeral Home Chapel, Devils Lake on Monday from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary, led by the Catholic Daughters of America at 6:30 p.m. Fr. C.F. Wilhelm will lead the Scripture Service at 7:00 p.m.
Visitation on Tuesday will be at the church one hour prior to the funeral Mass.
Music will be provided by Peter A. Hager, Soloist and JoDee Lagein, Organist

Virginia B. Wengeler was born on February 22, 1911 at Munich, ND, the daughter of Joseph and Mary (Janowski) Wengeler. She graduated from Nekoma High School in 1929. Virginia then attended Mercy Hospital School of Nursing, graduating in 1934. Virginia was united in marriage to Floyd L. “Sarge” Reardon in May of 1937. They established their home in Devils Lake where they lived and worked. Virginia worked as a Registered Nurse from 1934 until 1949, as a Private Duty Nurse for the Lake Region District Health Unit and also did relief work for the hospitals in Belcourt and Fort Totten, ND. She later returned to the work force and was employed as an RN at Mercy Hospital from 1969 to 1976.
Sarge died on February 12, 1984. Virginia continued to make her home in Devils Lake until moving to Nacogdoches, Texas in 2001 to be near her daughter.
In her younger years, Virginia served as a Girl Scout Leader and was a member of the Gay 49er’s Homemakers Club and also belonged to the RSVP. (Retired Senior Volunteer Program) Virginia was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Jude’s Circle and the Altar Society and a 50 plus year member of the Catholic Daughters of America St. Mary’s Court. She also was active in the VFW Auxiliary, Mercy Hospital Auxiliary and the Eagles Ladies Auxiliary.
Virginia is survived by her loving Daughter & Son-In-Law: Pamela and Dr. Lyle Thorstenson of Nacogdoches
Granddaughter: Leah Thorstenson of Chicago, Illinois
Grandson: Luke Thorstenson of Austin, Texas
Sister: Rita Marie Cardin of Nacogdoches
Many Nieces and Nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Sarge; sisters, Mathilda Dick and Edith Wengeler; brothers, John, Leo, Ernest, Alfred, Kenneth and Clarence Wengeler.
