Randy R. Myers Randy R. Myers “Red” 54 of Devils Lake, ND went to be with Jesus on June 23rd 2010, as the result of a tragic car accident. Randy was an angel put here on Earth, he was the light in every room. Funeral services will be Tuesday, June 29th at 10:30 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Devils Lake. Visitation will be at the Gilbertson Funeral Home on Monday June 28th, 5 -7 PM. Urn Bearers for Randy will be his nephews and niece, Graham Caldwell, Ian, Beau, Chase, Noa Leigh and Marshal Myers-Beck. Honorary Bearers will be Clint Devier, Tim Kunkel, Mike Ziegler, Tim Finley, Andy Lange and Rodney Hoffmeyer. Randy was born in Devils Lake, ND on Christmas Eve 1955 to Ted and Lois (Burt) Myers. Randy graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1974. He was an outstanding athlete in football and basketball, and received a football scholarship to Valley City State University. Randy graduated from Colorado School of Gunsmithing in Denver, Colorado. He moved back to Devils Lake and built his home on East Bay, Devils Lake, which he lost in the flood in 1997. He then built his 2nd home north of Devils Lake and expanded his Gunsmith business. Randy overcame many obstacles in his life. In 1976 he became a paraplegic in a tragic accident. Always optimistic, and never asking why, Randy persevered and became a master gunsmith due to his love of the outdoors. Randy provided an expertise in gunsmithing to the Devils Lake area sportsmen that will be hard to replace. His talents will be greatly missed. Randy’s true passion was hunting deer, upland game, ducks and geese, and fishing on Devils Lake. Randy was an extremely skilled sportsmen, as a member of the Devils Lake Gun club he enjoyed shooting trap, sporting clays and skeet with friends. Randy taught his nephews and nieces to hunt and fish with tender love and patience and they adored him. Many of Randy’s happiest moments were spent with his nieces, nephews, family, friends, and girlfriend Karin Konzak, and hunting companions Drake, Porky and Doc (black labs). Randy is more than just a son, brother, uncle and friend, he is a hero! Randy will be terribly missed, and deeply loved forever, not only by his family and friends but by his entire community. Thank you for a lifetime of beautiful memories Randy! Until we’re all together again you’re in our hearts. He is survived by his mother Lois; sisters Melissa (John)Caldwell of Farmington, New Mexico: Sheila Myers-Beck (Rick Beck) of Woodbury, Minnesota: Niece, Noa Leigh Myers-Beck; Nephews, Graham Caldwell, Ian Myers-Beck, Beau Myers-Beck, Chase Myers-Beck, and Marshal Myers-Beck; Hunting companion, Doc (lab). He was preceded in death by grandparents; father, Ted; niece Alexandra Caldwell and nephew Evan Caldwell; hunting companions, Drake and Porky (Labs).
