Allison F. ConqueringBear-ThunderShield, “Mato Hanki Kta Nazin Win”, 30 of St. Michael, ND died on Saturday, October 24, 2009 at Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, ND. Mass of Christian Burial for Allison will be held on Friday, October 30, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, St. Michael, ND. Fr. Brian Moen will officiate and burial will be in St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery. A Wake will be held at the Tekakwitha Center, St. Michael on Thursday beginning at 5:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 8:00 p.m. The procession to St. Michael’s Recreation Center will leave on Thursday at 4:00 p.m. from Wal-Mart. Serving as Casket Bearers for Allison will be Dallas Thundershield, Dwight Thundershield, Tyson King, Jamie Lovejoy, Dillon Thundershield, Gerald Longie, Trent Anderson and Keith Longie. Honorary Bearers will be Gloria and Frank Redroad, Daniel Redroad, Lincoln Redroad, Casey Redroad, Chris Redroad, Kelly Redroad, Robin Redroad, Robert Redroad Jr., Fred Thundershield, Rolland Thundershield, Rolland Thundershield, Jr., Willard MaleBear, Brian Thundershield, Kim Redroad, Candace Redroad, Lyman Redroad, Yolanda King, Tyson King and children, Richard and Lonna Street and family, Mike OneBear and family, the LeftBear family-Ryan, Robert, Blaine, Susan, Felicia, Alicia, Lanny, Roberta, Kathy, Samantha, Leanna, Jennifer, Bonnie and children, Larry and Darla Thiele, Alberta Redfox and the entire Redfox family, father-in-law, Frank “Pa” and mother-in-law, Mary “Mom”, Bernadine Whiteshield and family, Myrna Whiteshield and family, Jada Longie and family, Keith Longie and family, Gerald Longie and family, Ivy Lovejoy and family, Frances Casey Lovejoy and family, Ashley Lovejoy and family, Fanette Lovejoy and family, adopted sisters, Stacy and Barbara Azure. If we have forgotten to name any of Allison’s dear friends and family it was not intentional, please forgive us. Our hearts are sad as we make our way through this very difficult time. Allison Faye was born on April 18, 1979 at Fort Yates, ND, the daughter of Duane and Sharon (Redroad) Thundershield Sr. She was raised and educated between the Standing Rock and Spirit Lake Nations, including Eagle, South Dakota and St. Michael, ND area. In 2000, Allison returned to the Spirit Lake Nation where she has since made her home. She most recently worked at the Spirit Lake Casino. Allison was a devoted mother who always made every occasion special for her children, including birthdays and holidays. She always wanted family and friends to feel welcome in her home and she was ready for anyone to drop in at anytime, because the house was clean and neat and fry bread and a great meal were just minutes away. Family was Allison’s number one priority. Allison is survived by her children, Baby John Conquering Bear, Calantha ConqueringBear, Shauncina Lovejoy, Hunter Lovejoy, Harley Lovejoy and Hayden Lovejoy; Brothers: Jamal Cassis Thundershield, Peak Island, Maine, Dallas Thundershield, Duane Thundershield and Dwight Thundershield all of Tokio, ND, Dace Thundershield, Wanblee, South Dakota, and Dillon Thundershield, Sioux Falls, South Dakota; Sister: Starlet Thundershield also of Sioux Falls; Special Friend: Jamie Lovejoy; “Father-In-Law and Mother-In-Law”: Francis and Mary Lovejoy Many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews also survive. Allison was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents, Abraham and Alice (OneBear) Redroad and Vincent and Esther (MaleBear) Thundershield.
