Scott Peter was born on January 6, 1956 at Devils Lake, the son of the late James S. Yankton Sr. and Pauline (Jackson) Greywater. Scott attended schools in Fort Totten, Wahpeton Indian School and graduated from Fort Totten High School in 1975. Upon graduation Scott enlisted in the United States Army and was Honorably Discharged. Scott was employed by the Dakotah Bingo Palace as a Security Guard, Sioux Manufacturing, Sioux Utilities, Employment and Training/JOBS, Golden Eagle Wireless and the Spirit Lake Casino in the Food and Beverage Department. Due to illness he was forced to retire.
Scott dearly treasured spending time with his family, more then ever with his grandchildren, nieces and nephews; they would often say he was the “Coolest Uncle” and the “Coolest Grandpa”. He was joyful, friendly, had a gift of a great sense of humor and always had a good joke to tell. Scott would gladly help anyone out. He enjoyed basketball, pool, horseshoes, watching his favorite channels A&E and TruTV and playing cards with his friends.
His kind and loving spirit will forever be in our hearts and our memories. May our love and prayers accompany him on his journey home.
We would like to thank the Spirit Lake Ambulance, Fort Totten Police Department, Father Moen, Father Chuck, Tony and Vina McDonald, Renita and Whalen Shaw Sr., Roger Ironshield, Dr. Ahlin, Devils Lake Dialysis Staff and the Lake Region Ambulance for their valiant efforts.
