Evonne M. Bryl, 66 of Webster, ND died on Friday, November 27, 2009 at Mercy Hospital, Devils Lake. Funeral Services for Evonne will be held on Thursday, December 3, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at Peace Lutheran Church, Devils Lake. Rev. Rafe Allison will officiate and burial will be in the Devils Lake Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and visitation on Thursday will be at the church one hour prior to the funeral service. Serving as casket bearers for Evonne will be Keith Eisenzimmer, Tom Stoe, Dave Hagel, Gary Schuler, Chuck Laber and Kermit Schell. Music will be provided by Kevin Regan, soloist and Brenda Swenseth, pianist. Evonne Mae was born on April 18, 1943 at Devils Lake, ND the loving daughter of Helmer and Amanda (Christianson) Stoe. She grew up in the Penn, ND area and attended school in Devils Lake, graduating from Devils Lake Central High School with the class of 1961. While in high school, Evonne worked as a telephone operator for Northwestern Bell and also worked at the Montgomery Wards store. After graduating from high school, Evonne was employed at Ramsey National Bank as a bookkeeper. Evonne was united in marriage to Louis F. Bryl Jr. on September 15, 1963 at St. Olaf Lutheran Church, Devils Lake. They established their home in the Webster area where they were owners and operators of Bryl and Sons Custom Harvesting. As a family, they went up and down the grain belt of the United States as the grain ripened. Evonne was the head cook for the crew and any other job that needed to be done, but her priority was always to care for her sons. Beginning in 1984 and until her death, Evonne was working for Cenex as the bookkeeper. Evonne was a member of Peace Lutheran Church and the WELCA. Traveling through the Midwest had always been a big part of Evonne’s life, but she later enjoyed traveling to California and Las Vegas. She also enjoyed traveling with the Good Neighbor Club of Western Bank. Evonne especially enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren and treating them to her delicious cooking, especially her lefse. Evonne leaves behind her loving sons, Richard J. Bryl (Trish Schwab) and Kevin Bryl all of Devils Lake; grandchildren, Shelbi Bryl, Katie Bryl and Wyatt Bryl; brother, Roger Stoe and his wife, Claudia of Devils Lake and Mary Ann and her husband, Kenton Steinke of Castle Rock, Colorado; special cousin, Carolyn Bryl of Spring, Texas; Many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Evonne was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Louis who died April 17, 2005.
