Lila Tronson, 77 of Doyon, ND died early Friday morning, November 27, 2009 at the Lakota Good Samaritan Center, Lakota, ND.
Funeral Services for Lila will be held on Tuesday, December 1, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at Lakota Lutheran Church, Lakota. Rev. Donald Reynolds will officiate and burial will be in the Doyon Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Monday, November 30, 2009 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service and Time of Sharing at 7:00 p.m. Visitation on Monday will be at the church one hour prior to the funeral service.
Serving as Casket Bearers for Lila will be her grandsons, Patrick Tronson and Zachary Tronson and her nephews, Gary Tronson, Rick Tronson, Jim Alvestad and Jerome “Buck” Joramo.
Honorary Bearers will be the members of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit #21.
Music will be Congregational Hymns and Traci Hysjulien, pianist.
Lila, the youngest of twelve children was born on December 14, 1931 at Doyon, ND the daughter of Anton and Mary (Benson) Alvestad. She was reared and educated in Doyon, graduating from Doyon High School with the class of 1949.
Lila was united in marriage to David Tronson on July 19, 1952 in Alabama where David was stationed with the National Guard. They lived in Montana for several years, then in 1958 moved to Doyon where they lived, farmed and raised their family through the years. While living in Doyon, Lila worked at the Doyon Post Office and also for a time at the Gronna Good Samaritan Center in Lakota. Lila was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Doyon and the American Legion Auxiliary Unit #21 of Lakota. She especially enjoyed her membership in the Doyon Ladies Tuesday afternoon coffee bowling league. Lila moved to the Lakota Good Samaritan Home in May of 2008. David died on December 26, 2008.
Lila was so thankful to be able to be the “babysitter” to her grandchildren when they were younger and then to enjoy watching them participate in their many activities as they grew older. She enjoyed the beauty of nature, watching and feeding the birds that made her backyard their home and the many cats and dogs who were faithful companions through the years.
Lila leaves behind her loving family. Children: Pam Nelson and her husband, Danny of Devils Lake, Paul Tronson and his wife, Kristy and Steve Tronson and his wife, Carmen all of Doyon, Lisa Wightman and her husband, John of Brocket, ND; Grandchildren: Amy (Mike) Mikhula~Leigh (David) Kraft~Carrie (Jason) Huwe~Pat (fiancé, Leanne Calderwood) Tronson~Zachary Tronson~Emily Tronson~Tanner Wightman~Kori Wightman; Great Grandchildren: Coby~Skyler~Jenna~Austin~Sara~Jonathan~Broedy; Brother: Robert “Bob” Alvestad and his wife, Marian of Devils Lake and brother-in-law, Donald Tronson of Doyon;
Lila was preceded in death by her parents; husband, David; daughter, Kathy; brothers, Ingvold, Vernal and Anton Alvestad Jr.; sisters, Myrtle Penguilly, Agnes Lien, Millie Phansmith, Rena Hildreth, Marie Joramo, Clarice Hayward and Inga Alvestad in infancy.
