Steven Michael Bachmeier

STEVEN M. BACHMEIER, 53 of Devils Lake, ND died on Thursday, December 24, 2009 at his home, rural Devils Lake, ND. Mass of Christian Burial for Steven will be held on Thursday, December 31, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Devils Lake. Fr. Dale Kinzler will celebrate the Mass and burial will be in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary and Scripture Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation on Thursday will be at the church one hour prior to the funeral Mass. Reading the Scriptures will be Lois Bachmeier. Gift Bearers will be his granddaughter, Mataya Kihne and Ashley Bachmeier, Cassidy Saari and Samantha Berry. Serving as Casket Bearers for Steven will be Duane Bachmeier, Rudy Tollefson, Adam Bachmeier Jr., Richard Swanson, Paul Winnegge Jr. and Jesse Bachmeier. Steven Michael was born on September 22, 1956 at Devils Lake, ND one of six sons born to Peter and Klara (Ohnesorg) Bachmeier. Steven was reared and educated in the Crary area. Steven worked for many years with his Dad as a dry wall hanger. After his Dad retired, Steven worked at Strata and various jobs in the Devils Lake area. Steven loved time at the lake, fishing, “tinkering” in his garage, the Casino and trips to Vegas. Steve especially enjoyed time with his family and he considered his most precious time as time spent with his granddaughter Mataya. Steve is survived by his loving family, including his special friend, Tammy Berry; his children, Michael Bachmeier of Fargo, ND and Amber Bachmeier of Devils Lake; his granddaughter, Mataya also of Devils Lake; his brothers, Frank (Louise) Bachmeier of Devils Lake, Jim (Sue) Bachmeier of Plymouth, Minnesota, Donald(Vicky) Bachmeier, Gary Bachmeier and Scott(Kay) Bachmeier all of Devils Lake. Several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins also survive. Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Pete and Klara; grandparents, Milton and Annie Bachmeier; aunts, Betty Christianson and uncles, Frank Bachmeier and Paul Winnegge.
