Allen Fassett, 64 of Fort Totten, North Dakota died on Friday, August 21, 2009 at the Heartland Care Center with his loving family at his side.
Funeral Services for Allen will be held at the Dakota Baptist Church, Fort Totten on Wednesday, August 26, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. Pastor Paul Young will officiate and burial will be in St. Jerome’s Catholic Cemetery, rural Fort Totten. Military Honors will be accorded by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #6547.
Visitation will be held at the Dakota Baptist Church on Tuesday beginning at 6:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m.
The procession to the Dakota Baptist Church will leave at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday from Wal-Mart Lot.
Serving as Casket Bearers for Allen will be: Landon Delorme Sr., Kenny Baker Sr., David Azure Jr., Monte Fassett, Steffen Greywater, Troy Woods, Jr., Trent Anderson and Franklin Spotted Bird.

Allen was born on April 23, 1945 at Belcourt, ND the son of Rueben Fassett and Mary Louise (Belgarde) Simonson. He attended the Calvary Square School, Fort Totten and St. Michael’s Little Flower Mission School.
He entered the United States Navy on July 31, 1963 and served his country during the Vietnam War. While in the Navy he was a champion boxer with the Navy boxing team. After his honorable discharge on December 13, 1965, Allen returned to the Spirit Lake Nation. He served for a time with the Tribal Police Force and then was a professional trucker for over 30 years. Living the life of a trucker meant traveling to many different places, experiencing many adventures and having the chance to meet people from all walks of life. He loved this life and always found new friends and old friends to visit with and he had a million jokes to tell all of his family and friends. The work was hard, but Allen had never been afraid of hard work. He met the love of his life, Diane Woods in 1967 and they raised a family together. Diane died on June 26, 2007.
Allen’s earthly journey has ended but he now begins his journey to eternal life. We will miss you always.
Allen is survived by his five children: Janelle Fassett~Mark Fassett~Perry Fassett and step-son, Rob Greywater Jr. and his wife, Carol all of Fort Totten and Sherry Larson of Jamestown, ND;
Thirty Four Grandchildren and Ten Great Granchildren;
Sisters: Cheryl Fox of Virginia~Denise Patterson of Erskine, Minnesota~Jackie Olson of Drayton, ND;
Many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews and their families also survive.
Allen was preceded in death by his parents; step sons, Troy Woods Sr. and Duane McDonald; grandchildren, Mark Fassett and Lindsey Littlewind; great granddaughter, Matisha Fassett and brothers, George Fassett and Gilbert Fassett.
