On Friday, February 10, 2006 our beloved Marvin J. Anderson, Jr, 39 of St. Michael was called to “Our Father’s” side in heaven. A Wake Service will be held on Wednesday at St. Michael’s Recreation Center beginning at 5:00 p.m. with a Rosary and Prayer Service at 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial for Marvin Jr. will be held on Thursday, February 16, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church. Fr. Charles Leute O.P. will celebrate the Mass. Marvin’s final resting place will be on the hillside, over looking the family’s “Double M” Ranch. The procession to St. Michael’s Recreation Center will leave from the Devils Lake Wal-Mart Parking Lot on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. Serving as Active Pallbearers will be Marvin’s brothers, Gregory DeMarrias, Norman “Jay” DeMarrias, Matthew “Matt” DeMarrias, Garry DeMarrias; brothers-in-law, David “Davey” Davidson, Jr.; nephew, Devon Lightning; first cousins’ Darrick Ami and Avery Thompson Jr. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers: Harlin Littlewind, Bennett Black, Rocky Baer, Travis Littleghost, Brent DeMarrias, Barry DeMarrias, Lydell Merrick, Sam Merrick Jr., Val George Merrick, David Wee, Phillip Lewis Sr., Burl McCaslin Jr., Shane Lightning and Elston Lightning. Marvin John Anderson, Jr. was born on February 2, 1967 in Devils Lake, ND to Marvin and Marlene (Gourd) Anderson. He attended elementary school in St. Michael, ND and High School in Fort Totten, ND. He worked for the Summer Youth Program and Sioux Manufacturing. Starting at a young age, Marvin Jr. led a very busy life. At the age of 6 years old, he received recognition for riding in the Little Britches Rodeo in Fort Hall, Idaho. He loved to ride horses. He competed in Native American pow-wow dancing. At the age of 7, Marvin Jr. started dancing boy’s fancy and switched to traditional. Marvin Jr. was a champion dancer. He traveled to pow-wows all over the United States and Canada. He had many friends on the pow-wow trail. As a young man, his friends were “the late” Faron Littleghost, Travis Littleghost and Rocky Baer. He was always friendly and eager to meet new friends. Some of his hobbies were hunting, trapping, and shooting hoops. His lifelong love of basketball started at a young age. He loved playing basketball. Marvin Jr is survived by His parents, Marvin and Marlene (Gourd0 Anderson of St. Michael Brothers; Gregory (Deb) DeMarrias Norman “Jay” (Jan) DeMarrias Garry DeMarrias Matthew “Matt” DeMarrias all of St. Michael, ND Sisters: Tammy (Elston) Lightning of Hobbema, Alberta, Canada Joy (Davey) Davidson Candice Anderson both of St. Michael He was preceded in death by his sister, Valerie (DeMarrias) Merrick; brother, Mark DeMarrias; maternal grandparents, Jacob and Melvina Gourd; paternal grandparents, John and Julia Anderson.
