Mabel O. Swenson, 92 of Devils Lake formerly of Churchs Ferry, ND died on Monday, February 13, 2006 at Heartland Care Center, Devils Lake. Funeral Services for Mabel will be held on Friday, February 17, 2006 at 11:30 a.m. at the Gilbertson Funeral Home Chapel, Devils Lake. Rev. Harold Ovre, Pastor of St. Olaf Lutheran Church will officiate and burial will be in the spring in the Chain Lakes Lutheran Cemetery, rural Garske. Friends may call at the Gilbertson Funeral Home on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. and Friday from 9:00 a.m. until time of service. Serving as Casket Bearers for Mabel will be: Russell Anderson, Richard Anderson, Victor Anderson, Tom Townson, Mylo Strand and Harold Halvorson. Mabel Olava Swenson was born on December 9, 1913 at rural Churchs Ferry, ND the daughter of Olaf and Jennie (Anderson) Swenson. She attended school at Churchs Ferry, DeGroat Township School and Penn High School. Mabel dedicated her life to caring for her family. First she cared for her parents until their deaths and later her sisters, Agnes and Hazel, who passed away in October. It was very difficult for Mabel to change from care giver to care receiver, but was so very thankful for the many kindnesses shown to her by her dear family and friends. She was truly a blessing in the eyes of so many and will be dearly missed. Mabel is survived by several cousins and special friend, Myrtle Richter She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Agnes Swenson and Hazel B. Stoe.
