Ronald G. “Ron” Eback, 57 of Devils Lake, North Dakota died on Saturday, February 11, 2006 at his home in Devils Lake. Mass of Christian Burial for Ron will be held on Thursday, February 16, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Devils Lake. Fr. C.F. Wilhelm will celebrate the Mass and burial will be in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery. Military Honors will be accorded by the Neathery-Simensen Post #756, Devils Lake Veterans of Foreign Wars. Friends may call at the Gilbertson Funeral Home Chapel, Devils Lake on Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary and Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation on Thursday will be at the church one hour prior to the funeral Mass. Serving as Casket Bearers will be Ron’s Nephews, Jason Olson, Jeremy Olson, Ryan Regan, Jared Christensen, and Chris Thompson and friends, Roger Wilhelmi, Josh McCartney, and Shane Diseth. Honorary Casket Bearers for Ron will be his dear family, special friends at the Gilbertson Apartments, and many friends. Music will be provided by Susan Eback, Soloist and JoDee Lagein, Organist Reading the Scriptures: Vanessa Eback and Jessica Johanson Gift Bearers: Talice Regan, Ashley Regan, Elisa Christensen, and Michelle Johanson Eucharistic Minister: Donna Olson Altar Servers: Samantha Eback, Justin Eback, Ronald Gene Eback was born on January 27, 1949 at Harvey, ND the son of John S. and Julia (Keller) Eback. At a young age he moved with his family to Devils Lake where he lived and worked the rest of his life. He attended school in Devils Lake. Ron then joined the United States Army on November 8, 1966. He served his country during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged on November 7, 1968. After his discharge he returned to Devils Lake and worked for a time for Tom Nistler at the Gambles Store and later at Monteith’s Meat Market. He sold insurance, was employed at Majestic Cleaners, Schwan Wholesale and also the Arcade. Most recently, Ron worked at Leever’s County Market until he was forced to retire due to health problems. Ron was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the VFW and Eagle’s Lodge. Ron always enjoyed a good game of cards and especially being around people and visiting with old friends and making new ones. He loved spending time with his family, especially his nieces and nephews. Ron will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Ron is survived by his Sisters and Brothers-In-Law: Donna and Karrol Olson, Crary, ND Sharon and George Regan, Webster, ND Brothers and Sisters-In-Law: Rich and Noelle Eback, Mandan, ND Terry and Susan Eback, Devils Lake Many Nieces, Nephews, Great Nieces and Great Nephews survive. Many Aunts, Uncles and Cousins also survive.
