Roy Clifford Steinhaus

Roy C. Steinhaus, 85 a life time Ramsey County resident died on Thursday, January 26, 2006 at his home, rural Crary, ND Funeral Services for Roy will be held on Monday, January 30, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Devils Lake. Rev. Jamie Desai will officiate and burial will be in the Crary Cemetery. Friends may call at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation on Monday will be at the church one hour prior to the funeral service. Serving as Active Casket Bearers for Roy will be his Grandsons: Dennis Brien, Jeff Steinhaus, Jeremy Steinhaus, Terry Steinhuas, Ryan Steinhaus and Brad Steinhaus. Serving as Honorary Casket Bearers will be Heidi Bye, Sonia Knutson, Michele Morse, Jill Steinhaus, Kristi Bartz, Melissa Steinhaus, Jenny Steinhaus, Erin Steinhaus, Bob Bye, Ron Knutson, Jon Morse and Mike Bartz. Roy Clifford Steinhaus was born in Ramsey County, near Southam, ND on October 3, 1920 to Frank J. and Emma (Bachman) Steinhaus. He graduated from Crary High School and Mayville Teacher’s College and taught at Selfridge, ND. Roy was united in marriage to Alvina Bartram on July 25, 1942 at Devils Lake. They made their home in Ramsey County on various farms until buying their home near Crary, ND. In later years, winters were spent in Arizona. Roy enjoyed his family, the outdoors, farming, gardening, watching the birds and squirrels and everything about country living. He held several positions on the church council of First Lutheran Church of Crary and also taught Sunday School there. He was a member of the Ramsey County Social Services Board for almost twenty-five years. Roy is survived by his wife of 64 years, Alvina Children: Sharon Brien of Crary Curtis Steinhaus and special friend, Diane Erlich also Crary Clark Steinhaus and his wife, Lois of Devils Lake Conrad Steinhaus and his wife, Cheryl of Lisbon, ND Twelve Grandchildren: Dennis Brien, Crary, Heidi (Bob) Bye, Fargo, Sonia (Ron) Knutson, Devils Lake, Michele (Jon) Morse, Fargo; Jill Steinhaus, Sammamish, Washington, Kristi (Mike) Bartz, Detroit Lakes, MN; Jeff (Melissa) Steinhaus, Fargo, Jeremy (Jenny) Steinhaus, Devils Lake; Erin Steinhaus, Englewood, Colorado, Terry Steinhaus, Ryan Steinhaus and Brad Steinhaus all of Lisbon. Nine Great Grandchildren: Michael Carter, Katelyn and Bryce Bye, Kristen and Jayla Knutson, Zachary Morse; Kali and Keaton Bartz; Sydney Steinhaus; One Great Great Granddaugher: Vanessa Carter Many Nieces and Nephews also survive. Roy was preceded in death by his parents; son, Duane Roy; granddaughter, Audrey Carmen Brien; son-in-law, Edgar Brien; brothers, Everett, Irvin, Lester and Clarence Steinhaus; sisters, Elvira Wagar and Margaret Anderson.
