Ronald was born on November 12, 1945 at Minot, ND the son of Harry and Anna (Eisenzimmer) Zacher. He was a member of St. William’s Catholic Church in Maddock where he served as an Altar Server. He was raised and educated in Maddock and Utah, graduating from BCATS (Benson County Agricultural Training School) in 1964. After graduating, Ron worked for Rice Custom Harvesting and also at Klein Implement in Maddock.
He joined the North Dakota Army National Guard out of Carrington in 1966 and served until 1972 when he moved to Devils Lake. He worked at Powell Motor, United Power Association and Nelson’s Truck Service and most recently had been employed at Summers Manufacturing for 6 years. Most of Ronald’s working life was spent as a self-employed carpenter and mechanic. Actually, Ron was a jack of all trades and could fix anything that needing fixing. He had a great curiosity for “what makes things tick” and was always taking things apart and putting them back together.
Ron always had a smile on his face and twinkle in his eye, but those things were accentuated whenever Ron was in the presence of Harley-Davidson, John Deere and “little kids”. He loved his family and many dear friends and sharing his love of motorcycles and tractors with them brought him such great joy.
Ron was a friend to everyone he met and always there to help out in times of need. His memory will be in our hearts forever.
Ronald is survived by the love of his life, Vicky Buckmeier of Devils Lake;
Sisters and Brothers-In-Law: Carol and Bill Miller of Washburn, ND, Angie and Don Ziegler of Devils Lake and Shirley and Curt Larson of Tucson, Arizona;
Brothers and Sisters-In-Law: Butch and Kathy Zacher and Lloyd and Bernie Zacher all of Devils Lake.
