Lauraine Ruth was the smallest of twins born on December 2, 1922 to Orva and Ruth (Osborne) Pruyn at home in Minot, ND. She was raised and educated in Minot, graduating from Minot High School in the class of 1940. Lauraine’s mother died leaving 3 young daughters, Maxine “Mac”, Betty and Lauraine. Her father later married Beatrice D. Greene and Beatrice brought three sons, F.E. “Bill”, Robert and Paul to the family and they were all raised together with love as one big happy family in Minot.
Lauraine was united in marriage to John Lewis “Louie” Huber on February 5, 1944 at Marshall, Minnesota. They established their home in Wichita Falls, Kansas and worked for Boeing. After the war, they moved to Minot and their four children, John, Ed, Gayleen and Jeff were born there. In 1960, they moved to Devils Lake where they lived, worked and raised their family through the years. Lauraine worked for Dr. Herman Rutten DDS for 26 years until he retired. Louie died February 17, 1991. For the past 10 months, Lauraine has lived with and been cared for by her daughter, Gayleen.
Lauraine was an avid Minnesota Twins baseball fan. She never missed a Twins game on TV or the radio. A person knew (her family anyway) not to call her except during commercials.
In Lauraine’s later years, she found she really enjoyed bowling. She served as President of the Downtown League, Summer Scratch League and the Lake Region Womens’ Bowling Association. In 1988, she was inducted into the Lake Region Womens Bowling Hall of Fame for meritorious service. She always so enjoyed her trips to National and State Bowling Tournaments.
The joys of her life have been her grandchildren, Nicole, Halie, John and Michael and her great grandchildren, Sheldon, Toby and Isabelle who she so very dearly and deeply loved.
Lauraine is survived by her children, Eddie Huber and his wife, Sherry; Jeff Huber and his wife, Brenda and Gayleen Huber all of Devils Lake.
Grandchildren: Nicole (J.C.), Halie, John and Michael Huber all of Devils Lake
