Roger G. Pershke, Jr. 23 of Crary, ND died on Saturday, August 08, 2009 at Mercy Hospital, Devils Lake from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident. Funeral Services for Roger will be held at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Devils Lake on Wednesday, August 12, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. Rev. Jamie Desai will officiate and burial will be in the Devils Lake Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Tuesday, August 11, 2009 from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service and Time of Remembrance at 7:00 p.m. Visitation on Wednesday will be at the church one hour prior to the funeral service. Serving as Casket Bearers for Roger will be Cody Birkeland, Brady Riggin, Brad Deplazes, Ben Idland, Brian McGarvey and Jeremy Swanson. Honorary Bearers are Roger’s uncles, Dennis Hatlestad, James Hatlestad, Glen Hatlestad, Roger Hatlestad, Brian Hatlestad and Donald Pershke and the Class of 2004. Special music by Cathy Anfinson, congregational hymns with Maren Lysne, pianist. Roger, the son of Roger G. and Marilee (Hatlestad) Pershke Sr. was born on May 5, 1986 at Devils Lake, ND where he was reared and educated, graduating from Devils Lake High School. While in high school, Roger worked for the Birkeland farm and also Cowboy’s Towing. He also began working at Quality Welding as a welder where he was employed at the time of his death. Roger, the avid outdoorsman during all four seasons of the year, loved hunting, fishing, 4-wheeling and snowmobiling. During the snowmobiling season, he was part of Snow Drag Races, Vintage Racing and snowmobiling in the mountains near Cooke City, Montana with his friends. If he had to be indoors he was using his talent as a welder or tearing apart anything that had a motor. Roger loved the land, the Lake Region, his friends but above all he loved his family. Roger is survived by his mother and step father, Marilee and Ron Hosman of Devils Lake Sisters: Tammy Devier of Georgetown, MN~Melissa and her husband, Travis Elsperger of Devils Lake. Niece: Mia Elsperger and Nephews, Keenan Devier and godson, Mack Elsperger. Step Sisters: Lisa Davis and her husband Tony of Davenport, ND~Brittany Hosman of Devils Lake. Step Brother: Brock Hosman of Fargo. Grandmothers: Mary Jane Pershke, Devils Lake~Gina Hatlestad, McVille, ND~Margery Hosman, Fargo; Special Friend: Amanda Asleson, Devils Lake; Many aunts, uncles and cousins also survive. Roger was preceded in death by his father, Roger; grandfathers, Roy Pershke and Ed Hatlestad; great grandmother, Anna Hatlestad; uncle, Wayne Pershke and aunt, Connie Kluck.
