Sergio V. Hunt, 24 of Fort Totten, ND began his journey to the Spirit World on Sunday, January 4, 2009 in Fort Totten. A Wake and Prayer Service for Sergio will be held at the Fort Totten Recreation Center, Fort Totten on Thursday, January 8, 2009 beginning at 5:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 8:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held on Friday at 10:00 a.m. also at the Fort Totten Recreation Center with Fr. Charles Leute, O.P. officiating. The Procession to Fort Totten will leave from Wal-Mart at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Serving as Casket Bearers for Sergio will be James Volk, Waylon Smith, Luke LaCroix, Leonard Smith, Palmer Hopkins, Chauncey Hopkins, Rusty Hunt and Isaiah Hunt. Honorary Bearers will be Harry Hopkins III, Kendra Thompson, Kenneth Thompson, Iris Mendez, Shane Dogskin, Kendell Goodhouse, Joel Dunn, Mark Robertson, Victor Rainbow, Marcus Littlewind and all of Sergio’s many friends and family. Sergio Vidal Hunt was born on October 8, 1984 in Santa Clara, California where they resided until 1990 when the family moved back to the Spirit Lake Nation. At the age of seven, Sergio lived in Minnewaukan with his father Tony and attended school in Devils Lake. He later moved to Springfield, Missouri with his sister, Starr. After his freshman year of high school, he decided to go to Quentin Burdick Job Corps in Minot, ND. Upon completing Job Corp Training, he moved to Minneapolis where he lived with his Dad and worked in the construction industry for his step-brother, Jamie Clobes until his return back to the Spirit Lake Nation. While at Fort Totten, Sergion resided with his close cousin Chauncey and brothers and Auntie Antonette “Swato” McDonald whom he considered his second mother. Serg loved and appreciated the friendship of the McDonald family who were all very close and dear to him. Throughout Sergio’s journey in life, he walked off the path a few times and had many struggles in his young life. Things were just now looking up for him. He was happy and looking forward to starting school again at the College to earn his Associates Degree before his untimely passing. Sergio enjoyed being at home with his favorite cousins Chauncey and the boys. He loved being in different places and meeting new friends. Like his Dad, Tony, he loved to travel. He was a very kind and loving person, willing to lend a helping hand to anyone. He will be dearly missed by all of us. Sergio enjoyed playing basketball, playing with his niece and nephew, Caitlin and Corbin Jr. He liked listening to music. Sergio is survived by his father, Tony Hunt, Minneapolis; mother, Cynthia Smith Hunt, Moorhead, MN; sisters, Starr Edgerton, Moorhead, Kara Naumen, Bismarck; brother, Kelly Hunt, Minneapolis; step brothers, Jamie Clobes and Ricky Clobes and step-sister, Jody Clobes all of Minneapolis; Uncles: Ronald (Johanna) Hunt, St. Michael, Kenneth Hunt, Crystal, MN, David Smith and Calvin (Violet) Smith, Tokio. Aunts: Marsha (Lee) English, Cheryl Hunt both of Minnapolis, Myra Hunt, Fort Totten, Josephine Haagenstead, Moorhead, Rita Volk, Lakota and Nancy Two Star, Sisseton, SD; Special Niece: Caitlin Chanel Robinson; Special Nephews: Charles Corbin Robinson and Randall Joseph Naumen Jr. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Herbert and Lilly Hunt, Marion Griffin, Theresa Zertuche, Edward and Lucille Hunt, Agnes and Harry Hopkins and Margaret Ironhart; maternal grandparents, Simon Smith and Sarah Young; uncles, Leonard F. Dumarce, Michael A. Smith Sr., Gabriel E. Smith Sr., Joseph R. Smith, Donald D. Hunt and Harry Hopkins Jr.; aunt, Florine R. Smith; cousins, Michael R. Smith, Gabriel Smith Jr., Michael P. Smith, Joseph R. Smith Jr., David E. Smith Jr., Cynthia R. Volk, Dwight “Wicha” Hunt and nephew, Jamison James Hunt.
