David Julian Kostecki

David Julian Kostecki, age 41, of Bloomington, MN lost his battle with pancreatic cancer on January 6, 2009 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. David was born July 9, 1967 in Devils Lake, ND, the son of Julian and Rose (French)Kostecki. He grew up on a farm west of Devils Lake with his four brothers and two sisters. He attended grade school at St. Joseph Catholic School, and junior and senior high school in Devils Lake, where he graduated in 1985. Upon graduation, David enlisted with the North Dakota National Guard in which he served from 1985-1992. He attended college at North Dakota State University where he met his future wife, Debra Trost. He transferred to Moorhead Technical Institute and graduated in 1989 with a diploma in Occupational Proficiency in Electronics. David was employed by Dakota Radio Communications of Devils Lake from 1990-1991. He then moved to Minneapolis in 1991 where he was employed by PMT Corporation of Edina, MN until 1993 when he obtained a position with Racotek, Inc. of Edina until 1997. He then found a home with Kroll Ontrack, of Eden Prairie. On April 1, 2000, David was united in marriage to Debra Lee Trost on Waimanalo Bay, Hawaii. He was the proud father of two daughters, Olivia 4 and Sophia 1. David loved to spend time with his family, playing cards, throwing darts, watching movies, spending time working with the computer, and debating ~ with anyone about anything. He is survived by his wife, Debra; his daughters, Olivia and Sophia; parents, Julian and Rose; brothers, Allyn of Detroit Lakes, MN., Jerrold (Jolene) of Devils Lake, Danny (Sheri) of Burnsville, MN, and Michael of Walla Walla, WA; sisters, Caryn Greening and DeAnne (Donovan) Hoffart,both of Devils Lake; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. He is also survived by Karen Kostecki and Tom Greening. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Jacob and Katarzyna Kostecki and maternal grandparents, Henry and Ernestine French. Funeral service will be held, Saturday, January 10, 2009, 2:30 PM at Atonement Lutheran Church ~ 601 East Old Shakopee Road, Bloomington, MN. Visitation will be Friday, 5-8 PM at Gill Brothers Bloomington Chapel ~ 9947 Lyndale Avenue South and 1 hour prior to service at church. There will be visitation for family and friends of David on Monday, January 12, 2009 at 9:30 a.m. at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake, ND (Junction of highway 2 &19). At 10:30 a.m. there will be a procession from the Gilbertson Funeral Home to the Devils Lake Cemetery for interment.
