Elida P. Solberg, 88 of Cando, ND formerly of Bisbee, ND died on Wednesday, January 7, 2009 at her home. Funeral Services for Elida will be held on Tuesday, January 13, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Bisbee Lutheran Church, Bisbee, ND. Rev. Bonnie Weaver will officiate and burial will be in the Bisbee Cemetery in the spring. Visitation will be on Monday from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Cando Lutheran Church, Cando, ND. Visitation on Tuesday will be at the Bisbee Lutheran Church one hour prior to the funeral service. Serving as Casket Bearers for Elida will be all of her dear friends and neighbors. Elida Pauline Solberg, 88, of Cando, ND, formerly of Bisbee, ND, died on Wednesday, January 7, 2009 at her home. Elida Pauline was born on August 21, 1920 at Bottineau, North Dakota, the daughter of John and Bernthine (Olson) Absalonson. As a young girl she worked for Carl and Clara Solberg (Tom's brother) at Bisbee, ND, graduating from Bisbee High School in 1939. During World War II, Elida worked on the B-17 bomber at the Boeing Aircraft plant in Seattle, Washington. She returned to ND to marry the love of her life, Thomas Milton Solberg on June 16, 1944 at Bottineau. They began their married life at the Solberg Homestead farm. In 1946, they moved to the Considine area and began farming. They made this their home for years where they lived, farmed side by side, and raised their family through the years. They retired in 1989 and in the fall of 1993, moved to Cando. Tom died on May 16, 1994 and Elida continued to make Cando her home until her death. Elida was a member of the Bisbee Lutheran Church, the WELCA, where she held various offices, and the Quilters Circle. She was a Luther League advisor, Room Mother at the school, Music Booster, and member of the PTA in Cando. Elida enjoyed a variety of pastimes, especially embroidery and quilting. Elida was proud of all her children and grandchildren and their accomplishments. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Elida is survived by her children: Gary Solberg and his wife, Patty of Pollock, Idaho; Bruce Solberg and his wife, Deborah of Green Bay, Wisconsin; Eva Baldwin and her husband, David of Barton, New York; David Solberg and his wife, Betty of Agate, ND; and Dianne Solberg and her husband, Richard Fuller of Grand Forks, ND. Grandchildren: Bret (Amanda) Solberg and Maren (Brian Beermann, fiance) Solberg; Jeff (Kristina) Baldwin, Barbara (Matt Hinton) Baldwin, Richard Baldwin, and Joanna Baldwin; David (Tabitha) Solberg, Kristin Solberg, and Karl Solberg; Step-Grandchildren: Pam Barham, John Barham, and Vera Barham. Great Grandchildren: Lucas and Addison Baldwin; Emily Solberg. Several step great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Sisters: Judy Lynnes and her husband, Art of Rugby, ND; Helen Brandt of Bottineau, ND. Brother-In-Law: Art Solberg of Agate, ND, Sister-In-Law: Bessie Solberg of Cando, ND, and many nieces and nephews and their families. Elida was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Thomas; grandchildren, Douglas Solberg and Karen Baldwin; and sister, Ruda Gilje.
