John W. Sanders, 81 of Devils Lake, ND formerly of Bullhead City, Arizona died on Tuesday, August 25, 2009 at the Heartland Care Center, Devils Lake.
A Memorial Service for John will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Peace Lutheran Church, Devils Lake with Rev. Rafe Allison officiating. John requested that those attending services to dress in a casual manner. There will also be a Memorial Service for John in West Fargo, ND at a later date.
John William Sanders, the son of John Howard and Barbara (Kirkey) Sanders was born on March 12, 1928 in Olmstad, Minnesota. He was reared and educated in Minnesota and spent his youth there. John was at one time married to Ramona Sanders.
On December 28, 1945, John enlisted in the United States Navy and served his country during World War II. He was honorably discharged on July 13, 1946 at the Great Lakes, Illinois with the rank of Seaman Second Class. After his discharge from the Navy, John began his life long career in building construction. He was involved in the construction of banks, schools, hotels, apartments; you name it and John built it. Most of those years in construction were with the ASP Construction Company. He was “on the road” for years, but did call several places home including Casselton and West Fargo, ND, Detroit Lakes, MN and Bullhead City, Arizona. He was united in marriage to Vilma Dahl Albright on June 16, 1972 at Jamestown, ND and after illness forced John to retire, they spent most of those years in Arizona.
John is survived by his loving wife, Vilma;
Twin brother, James Sanders and his wife, Dorothy of Moorhead, MN;
Sisters: Marie and her husband, Helmar Undeberg of Eyota, MN; Evelyn Yost of St. Petersburg, Florida
Son: Wayne Sanders of Mapleton, ND;
Daughters: Diane and her husband, Bill McClintock, Sturgis, South Dakota
Brenda and her husband, Michael Stasko, Columbus, Ohio
Susan and her husband, Bob Gross, West Fargo, ND
Sally and her husband, Gene Moore, Ostrander, Ohio
Step Children: Connie Orness, Devils Lake
Rodney Albright and his wife, Diane, Billings, Montana
Philip Albright, Bullhead City, Arizona
Bryan Albright and his wife, Mary, Jamestown, ND
Many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren
Also surviving are many brothers-in-laws, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins.
