Cheryl Ann Tomahawk, 48 of Fort Totten, ND died on Sunday, August 23, 2009 at Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, ND. The Wake and Prayer Service for Cheryl will be held at the Fort Totten Recreation Center, Fort Totten on Wednesday, September 2, 2009 beginning at 5:00 p.m. with the Prayer Service at 8:00 p.m. Funeral Services for Cheryl will be held on Thursday, September 3, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at the Fort Totten Recreation Center. Fr. Charles Leute will officiate and burial will be in St. Jerome’s Catholic Cemetery, rural Crowhill, ND. The procession to Fort Totten will leave at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday from the Wal-Mart Lot. Cheryl’s casket bearers will be Franklin SpottedBird, Vernon SpottedBird, Kenneth SpottedBird, Bill Tomahawk, Calvin Feather, Perry Fassett, Shane Peltier, Michael Buckles, Raymond Buckles and Leonard Allery. Honorary Bearers will be Martha Littlewind, Rena and Bob Skaro, Flo Peltier, Stacey Dubois, Carmen Hagger, Raymond and Maxine Buckles, Lola Waanatan, Carol and Chris Littleghost, Ronda Greywater, Annie BigTrack, Roberta Lawrence, Margie Ross, Clarice and Josie Lawrence, Cathy TwoHearts, Elsie Herman, Lucy TwoBears, Lisa Peoples, Melvin Peoples, Edith Peltier, Ernie Bocanegra, Richie Greywater, Robbie Cavanaugh, Jeff Azure, Candice Redroad, Anna McKay, Fred Peltier, Gaylen Littlewind, Keith Champagne, Manvel Littlewind, Andrea Iceman, Dina Lenoir, Tracy Charboneau and Dusty Feather. Cheryl Tomahawk was 48 years old and was born at Mercy Hospital, Devils Lake on June 16, 1961 to Josephine (Wakaksan) and Frank Tomahawk Sr. She attended schools in Clearfield, Utah, Fort Totten and St. Michael. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends and her good sense of humor always shown through. She loved to spend time with her granddaughter, Tashelle Feather. We have lost someone very special, but we shall keep her memory forever in our hearts. Cheryl is survived by her loving family: Very Special Friend: Marlo TwoHearts; Daughter: Shayla Ross; Grandchild: Tashelle Annmarie Feather and 45 other grandchildren; Sisters: Joyce Tomahawk, Tammy Allery and Delphine Tomahawk; Brother: Frank Tomahawk Jr; Nieces: Janel, Tara and Kendra SpottedBird~Hope, Faith and Janette Tomahawk~Sharon Feather~Lisa Tomahawk; Nephews: Franklin, Vernon, Kenneth and Kevin SpottedBird~Bill Tomahawk Jr.~James Tomahawk~Keith Tomahawk; Aunts: Victoria Joshua of Cannonball, North Dakota~Louise GoodSoldier of Poplar, MT~Stella Cavanaugh of Fort Totten; Uncles: Solomon Sherman of Fort Totten~Josie Lawrence of St. Michael, ND; Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents; granddaughters, Kiara Green and Julia Diaz; brothers, Billy Tomahawk Sr. and Allan Tomahawk; sisters, Janice Tomahawk, Charlotte Tomahawk and Lorraine Tomahawk. The family would like to give special thanks to Mercy Hospital Staff and the Staff of the 5th and 6th Floors of Altru Hospital.
