Gladyce L. Pederson, 83 of Devils Lake formerly of rural Churchs Ferry, ND died on Thursday, December 15, 2005 at Merit Care Hospital, Fargo, ND with her family at her side.
Funeral Services for Gladyce will be held on Tuesday, December 20, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, Churchs Ferry, North Dakota. Rev. Richard Budd will officiate and burial will be in the spring at the Churchs Ferry Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Monday, December 19, 2005 from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation on Tuesday will be at the church one hour prior to the funeral service.
Serving as Casket Bearers for Gladyce will by Curtis Thorp, Paul Thorp, David Pederson, Perry Larson, Ken Tolleson and Dennis Tollefson.
Music will be provided by Darlene Albertson, Soloist and Doris Michaels, Organist
Gladyce L. Martinson was born on September 1, 1922 on the farm home at rural Churchs Ferry, the daughter of Sigurd and Inga (Helgeseth) Martinson. She attended grade school in Normania Township School, rural Churchs Ferry and graduated from Churchs Ferry High School in 1941. On October 23, 1942, Gladyce was united in marriage to Loyd Pederson at Starkweather, ND. They established their home in Churchs Ferry and later moved to the farm east of Churchs Ferry where they lived, worked and raised their daughter. In 1999, they moved into Devils Lake where they have since lived.
Gladyce worked at the Carlson Bakery in Devils Lake and then for Clarine Moe in Churchs Ferry. She also did bookkeeping for the Studness Company of Churchs Ferry for a number of years.
Gladyce was a life member of Zion Lutheran Church, the WELCA and Ladies Aide, the Wildrose Chapter #48 of the Eastern Star and also served as Worthy Matron. She was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary, Eagles Auxiliary, RSVP and Senior Center.
Gladyce thoroughly enjoyed cooking and visiting and playing cards with her many friends and relatives.
Gladyce is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Loyd
Daughter: Barbara Sowatzki and her husband, Don also of Devils Lake
Grandchildren: Cheri Luc and her husband, John Paul of Brownton, Minnesota
Brian Sowatzki of Devils Lake.
Brother: Sam Martinson and his wife, Bernice of Grand Forks.
Many Nieces and Nephews also survive.
Preceded in death by her parents and sister, Mildred Tollefson.
