Edward Miller, 88 of Devils Lake formerly of the Bartlett and Doyon areas of North Dakota died on Sunday evening, April 5, 2009 at Mercy Hospital, Devils Lake.
Funeral Services for Edward will be held on Thursday, April 9, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at St Joseph Catholic Church, Devils Lake. Fr. Dale Kinzler will officiate and burial will be in the Devils Lake Cemetery at a later date.
Visitation will be held at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary Service at 6:30 p.m. Visitation on Thursday will be at the church one hour prior to the service.
Serving as Casket Bearers for Edward will be Paul Miller, Steve Dion, Charles Dion, Daniel Miller, Ryan Elshaug and Christopher Miller.
Reading the Sacred Scriptures will be Randy and Cindy Miller.
Music will be provided by JoDee Lagein.
Edward J. Miller was born at the family farm in Newbre Township, Ramsey County, ND on October 24, 1920, the son of Frank and Mary (Pesek) Miller. He attended school at Newbre School. He worked for his uncles on the farm until his marriage. Edward was baptized at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Brocket, ND, and was confirmed in the Christian faith at St. Lawrence O”Toole Catholic Church in Michigan, ND. On June 20, 1944 he was united in marriage to Georgia Polak at the St. Lawrence O’Toole Catholic Church in Michigan, ND. They farmed by Mapes, ND. They later purchased a farm in the Bartlett, ND area where they raised their children and lived for 29 years. In 1978 they retired and moved to Devils Lake. They later moved to a farmstead by Doyon, ND where they lived for 10 years. In 2007 they moved back to Devils Lake.
Ed enjoyed life to the fullest and always had a positive attitude about life. He loved his wife and family, and they were always his main priority in life. He also had a wonderful way of making people laugh and telling stories about the old days. He always had only good things to say about everyone. He was loved by all who knew him.
