Floyd G. Evans, 81 of Cando formerly of Bisbee and Hampden, ND died on Monday, March 30, 2009, surrounded by his loving family, at Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, ND
Funeral Services for Floyd will be held on Friday, April 3, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Gilbertson Funeral Home Chapel, Devils Lake. Rev. Robert Buechler will officiate and burial will be in Storlie Cemetery, rural Hampden in the spring
Visitation will be held at the Gilbertson Funeral Home on Thursday from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
Serving as Casket Bearers for Floyd will be Justin Kempel, Joshua Stanley, Duane Evans, Mark Hendrickson, Orville Stinkeoway and Roger Lindenberg.
Honorary Bearers will be all of Floyd’s Grandchildren.
Music will be provided by Cathy Anfinson.
Floyd Gordon Evans, the son of Arthur L. and Myrtle (Larson) Evans was born on June 2, 1927 at home in Billings Township in rural Loma , North Dakota where he grew up and was educated attending Billings #2 country school. He worked with his Dad on the farm for several years, then moved to Bremerton, Washington and worked in the ship yards. Floyd was united in marriage to Lorraine Lindenberg on January 26, 1952 at Bremerton. They left Bremerton and Floyd began his life long career as a trucker, first working for Haggert Construction, moving heavy road equipment to and from each work site. He later worked as a trucker, moving mobile homes and trailers sold by Overvold Sales in Devils Lake and also trucked for Schumacker Trucking in Rugby. For over 37 years, Floyd was employed by Hendrickson Trucking at Bisbee. He retired in 2000 and Floyd and Lorraine moved to Cando where they have since made their home. Floyd was a member of the Eagles Lodge.
Floyd loved the land and never lost the spirit of farming. He always enjoyed helping his daughter, Shirley and son-in-law, Frank farm whenever he got the chance.
Floyd is survived by his wife of 57 years, Lorraine

Grandchildren: Delinda (Jim Geisen) Evans, Diana (Troy) Van Raden, Duane Evans; Sheri (Shannon) Winnegge, Aaron (Lisa) Peyerl, Cari (Bob Hallaway) Peyerl; Joshua Stanley; Loranna Bulmer and Dylan Bulmer;
Eleven Great Grandchildren
Sister: Marilyn Morstad of Hampden, ND
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Edith Vandal.
