Elizabeth “Betty” Senger, 86 of Devils Lake, ND left this world on Saturday, January 17, 2009 where her last wish of “I just want to go home” was honored. Our beloved Mother, Betty was surrounded by the family she so loved and adored. Mass of Christian Burial for Betty will be held on Tuesday, January 20, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Devils Lake. Fr. Dale Kinzler will celebrate the Mass and burial will be in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Monday (today) from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary and Scripture Service at 7:30 p.m. The Rosary will be led by Fr. Charles Leute, O.P. Visitation on Tuesday will be at the church one hour prior to the funeral Mass. Serving as Casket Bearers for Betty will be, Joe Yager, Chuck Senger, Bob Davis, John Tiegan, Dick Prozinski and Windy Bachmeier. Reading the Scriptures will be David Cicnatto Gift Bearers will be Arlinda, Victoria, Bardina and Julie Music will be provided by Lynne Webster and Tom Burckhard, vocalists and Lynda Pearson, organist. Betty was born March 26, 1922 in Balta, North Dakota to Markus and Eva (Satler) Stauss. On July 3rd, 1944 Betty and Julius Wendlin Senger began “A Love Affair” that has lasted 64 years growing in strength daily. They were married in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Devils Lake. They established their home in Devils Lake and 3 months after their marriage, Julius was called to the service of his country. Betty worked at the School for the Deaf and when Julius returned home, they moved to a farm at Fort Totten and here they lived, worked and began their family of five children who love and adore them. In 1962, they moved to Milwaukie, Oregon and Betty worked at Main Street Cleaners until retiring. After retiring, Julius hired her to work for him at Stanley Proto Tool Company. In 1987 they moved back to Devils Lake where they made this their home through the years. Betty worked as a waitress in many of the local café’s and was active in St. Joseph Catholic Church and the St. Patricia’s Circle. Betty is survived by the husband and family she so loved, cared for and treasured her whole life. The love of her life, Julius Daughter: Arlinda (Senger) Harper of Battleground, Washington Grandchildren: Troy, Julie Ann (Mike), John (Nancy) Great grandchildren; Christopher, Mechele, Dallas, Alyssa, & Dalton Daughter: Victoria (Senger) Fisher of Devils Lake Grandson: Shane Paulsen Great Granddaughter; Madissen Son: Gaylen Senger, wife Sandy of Milwaukie, Oregon Grandson: Jason Smith (Jenny) Daughter: Bardina (Senger) Aspenlieder, husband Lawrence of Kalispell, MT Grandchildren: Bryon, Chad (Lora) & Adam (Deanna) Great grandchildren; Corbin & Ariella Son: Stacey Senger, partner in life, David Cicnato of Long Beach, California Great Grandson; Connor Brother: Martin Stauss of Milwaukie, Oregon Step Brother: Tony Stauss of Mesa, Arizona Step Sister: Irene (Stauss) Weiler also of Mesa. Betty was preceded in death by her parents; son-in-law, Mark Harper; siblings John Stauss, Gertrude (Nelson) Stauss, Gus Stauss, Andrew Stauss, Wendlin Stauss, and 4 yr. old Michael Stauss. The Senger Family cannot begin to express our gratitude to Carmen Tronson, Hospice Manager along with her outstanding staff Melissa, Deanna, and Sharon. To the two guardian angels that entered our parent’s life 5 months ago, the incredible mother and daughter team from social services of Marcia Kraft and Jo Ann Gust.
