Geraldine Catherine Lang

Geraldine C. Lang, 74 of Devils Lake formerly of Cando, ND died on Sunday, January 11, 2009 at Mercy Hospital, Devils Lake. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, January 15, 2009 at 12:00 noon at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Devils Lake. Fr. Robert Pecotte will celebrate the Mass and burial will be in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday (today) at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary and Scripture Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation on Thursday will be at the church one hour prior to the funeral Mass. Serving as Casket Bearers for Geraldine will be her grandchildren. Reading the Sacred Scriptures: Dale Risinger Gift Bearers: Linda and Dale Risinger family Geraldine Catherine Mason was born on April 23, 1934, the daughter of Niles and Bertha Mason. She was reared and received her elementary education in the Cando area and then attended St. Mary’s High School in Devils Lake. Geraldine was united in marriage to Andrew J. Lang on October 25, 1954 at Cando. They made their home on a farm near Cando and later moved to the Warwick area, where they continued to farm. In 1983 they moved to Devils Lake. Geraldine worked for several years at the Towner County Medical Center. Andrew died on February 4, 2005. Geraldine was an exceptional cook and baker and loved to share all of her creations with family and friends. She enjoyed gardening and again, sharing the produce of that garden and her many canned goods with family. She was very active in the Foster Grandparent Program and was recognized for over 10 years of loving service. Geraldine was a devoted wife and loving mother and grandmother. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and was a favorite babysitter to them all. Geraldine is survived by her children: David Lang and his wife, Marilyn of Fargo; Linda Risinger and her husband, Dale; Carla Moe and her husband, David and Barb Lang all of Devils Lake; Nancy Hagen and her husband, Jim of Fargo; Roxetta Holtz and her husband, Dennis of Devils Lake; Susan Comer and her husband, Kevin of McIntosh, MN; Grandchildren: Tara (Fieldings) Olson, Tim (Chris) Risinger; Ryan Lang, Robert Moe, JoAnna Moe; Rosanna Hagen, Rachel Hagen, Jeremiah Hagen; Jennifer Lang, Jessica Lang; Amanda Nygaard and Ashley Nygaard; Step Grandchildren: Josh Hagen, Christopher Holtz and Jordon Holtz. Great Grandchildren: Fausten, Jayden, Jamison and MacKenzie. Sister: Irene Hoff and her husband, Dwaine of Minot, ND Sharon Smeltzer and her husband, Virgil of Leeds, ND Many Nieces, Nephews and their families also survive. Geraldine was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Andrew; brother, Larry Mason and sister, Judy Severtson.
