J. Robert “Bobby” Hegge, 57 of Devils Lake, ND died on Thursday, May 17, 2007 at his home, rural Devils Lake.
Funeral Services for Robert will be held on Wednesday, May 23, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Olaf Lutheran Church, Devils Lake. Rev. Harold Ovre will officiate and burial will be in the Devils Lake Cemetery. Military Honors will be accorded by the Neathery-Simensen Post #756, Devils Lake Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Lake Region Honor Guard, Camp Grafton.
Visitation will be held at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with the family present from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Visitation on Wednesday will be at the church one hour prior to the funeral service.
Serving as Casket Bearers for Robert will be Duane Volk, Richard Lindberg, Michael Carlson, Scott Boe, Tom Rerick, Scott Nettles, Lee LaBarre and Doug Baker.
Honorary Bearers will be all of Robert’s Dear Friends and Neighbor

Joseph Robert Hegge, the son of Joseph Melvin and Cecilia (Bryn) Hegge was born on August 2, 1949 at Devils Lake, ND. He was raised and educated in Morris Township, receiving his elementary education at Morris School #2 and then attending Devils Lake Central High School, graduating in 1967. He graduated from Lake Region Junior College with a degree in automotive repair and technology.
Robert entered the United States Army on July 11, 1972 serving his country during the Vietnam War, stationed in Germany. After his Honorable Discharge on July 5, 1974 he returned to the family farm, near Webster where he farmed and cared for his mother, retiring in 1993. He remained on the family farm, helping the neighbors with their farming. He also worked at Lake Supply in the parts department for several years and did construction work with local contractors.
Robert was a member of the Sons of Norway and at present, and for many years previously, served as the Morris Township Treasurer.
Robert spent many hours doing research, gathering information and visiting with family and friends in the many extensive geneology studies in which he was involved. He was also very artistic from painting to wood working and carving. He especially enjoyed carving animals. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing. He at one time raised registered Canadian geese. He had a love of animals, especially dogs and had several faithful canine companions through the years.
Robert is survived by his mother, Cecilia of Devils Lake

Dorothy Bish and her husband, Melvin of Sun City West, Arizona
Many nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews and cousins also survive.
He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph; sister, Betty White and brother-in-law, Tom Volk.
