Robert W. Littleghost Sr., “Kute Wica Yatana” (Shoots the Enemy), 50 of St. Michael, ND died on Friday, August 3, 2007 at his home surrounded by his loving and caring family and many dear friends.
Mass of Christian Burial for Robert will be held on Friday, August 10, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, St. Michael, ND. Fr. Paul Ruge will celebrate the Mass and burial will be in St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery.
A Wake will be held at St. Michael’s Recreation Center on Thursday beginning at 5:00 p.m. with the Rosary and Prayer Service at 8:00 p.m.
The Procession of vehicles and runners to St. Michael’s Recreation Center will leave the Spirit Lake Casino and Resort at 4:00 p.m.
Serving as Casket Bearers for Bobby will be Butch Lohnes, Randy Denne, Jerry Lenoir, Kim Robertson, Myron Harrison, Jr. Yankton, Allen Gleason and Robert Little Jr.
Honorary Bearers will be Robin and Karen Charboneau, Louie Chaske, Wesley Bigtrack, Vern Lambert Sr., Elmer White III, Lois Leben, Juanita Fredericks, Joe and Jeff Lenoir, Raymond Thompson, Edna Matheny, Kenny Hill and Lee Jackson and Bobby’s many more friends and relatives.
Robert Wayne Littleghost was born on November 20, 1956 at Devils Lake, ND the son of Francis and Helena (Waanatan) Littleghost. Bobby was raised in St. Michael where he was first educated and then later in Fort Totten. He started running at a young age and traveled to various races where he won many trophies and plaques and made many friends. Bobby taught his children his passion for running and they also traveled with him.
Bobby attended the John R. Rhinehart School of Taxidermy and received a certificate for taxidermy in September of 1985. He also attended the United Tribes Technical College School of mechanics. In 1997, he moved to Minneapolis and returned home to the St. Michael area the summer of 2000 where he spent his time hunting, running and being with his family and friends. He really enjoyed playing softball with all the kids in his community. His favorite past time was cooking, especially on Sunday where he brought his family together.
Bobby worked at the Dakota Sioux Casino in 1985 as a security officer. He later worked as a construction and carpentry worker in his later years.
One of Bobby’s dreams was to become a grass dancer. He mentioned dancing to his family and he made it happen. On the day his dream came true he danced into the Spirit World.
