Donald “Donnie” Black, 56 of St. Michael, ND died on Monday, July 23, 2007 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Mass of Christian Burial for Donnie will be held on Monday, July 30, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, St. Michael. Fr. Paul Ruge will celebrate the Mass and burial will be in St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery. A Wake Service will be held at St. Michael’s Recreation Center on Sunday beginning at 5:00 p.m. with a Rosary and Scripture Service at 8:00 p.m. The procession to St. Michael’s Recreation Center will leave the Wal-Mart Parking Lot on Sunday at 4:00 p.m. Serving as Casket Bearers for Donnie will be Curtis Black, Wayne Black, Dustin Black, Scott Black, Bennett Black and Roger Brown. Honorary Bearers will be Paul Lawrence, Duane Jackson, Josie Lawrence, Dewey BlackBird, Donnie Belgarde, Dave Longie, Sam Merrick, Buddy Longie, Nathan Jones, Eugene Redday, Mary Ellen YellowBird, Larry Holtzman, Inez Chaske, all of Donnie’s Casino Buddies and the Hospice Nurses. Donald P. Black, the son of Charles and Josephine (Baker) Black Sr. was born on February 16, 1951 at Devils Lake, ND. He grew up in St. Michael and attended the Little Flower School there. He also attended Maddock High School. Donald lived and worked his entire life in the St. Michael area, working for a time at Sioux Manufacturing and Little Hoop Community College until he was forced to retire due to health problems. Donnie enjoyed the outdoors and gardening. He enjoyed going to the casino and visiting with old and new friends alike. But his greatest love was time spent with his family and if there was time for a game of cards that made the visit all the better. We shall dearly miss the sparkle in Donnie’s eyes and his gentle smile and will treasure our memories of Donnie forever in our hearts. Donnie is survived by his son, Darwin Brown of St. Michael Brothers: James (Jackie) Baker and Peter (Lea) Black also of St. Michael Sister: Carolyn Black of St. Michael Special Friend: Dianne Jackson Special Grandsons: Kalem Jackson and Dana Jackson Aunt: Marie Peltier of St. John Uncle: David (Ruth) Baker also of St. John Many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Charles Black Jr.
