Edgar E. “Ed” Maley, 82 of Devils Lake, ND formerly of Estevan, Saskatchewan, Canada died on Friday, June 25, 2010 at his home.
A Graveside Service for Ed was held at the Estevan City Cemetery in Estevan on Tuesday, June 29, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. No services will be held in Devils Lake as per Ed’s request.
Edgar E. Maley was born on April 4, 1928 at Estevan, the son of William and Alice Dora (Burlinquette) Maley. He was reared and educated in Estevan, attending the Estevan Collegiate Institute. After graduation, Ed was employed with the Dominion Bridge Construction Company in Estevan.
Ed enlisted in the United State Navy at Helena, Montana on October 25, 1947. He served his country during the Korean War aboard the USS Badoeng Strait, receiving an honorable discharge on September 19, 1951 with the rank of Fire Control Technician-Petty Officer 2nd Class. After his discharge, he continued his education and received his accounting degree through the Department of Veterans Affairs in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
He then moved to Devils Lake and worked for five years in the accounting department of Dakota Hatchery and then established his own business as a Tax Preparer and Accountant in Devils Lake for the next 40 plus years. After retiring, Ed continued to make Devils Lake his home.
Ed is survived by his brother, Paul Maley and his wife, Loretta of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada and many nieces, nephews and their families.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, George Maley, Allan Maley and William “Bill” Maley and his sister, Della Matz.
